Frequently Asked Questions

What is Disk Efficiency in DiskInfo?

Disk Efficiency indicates how efficient the current file system is. The algorithm is (Total File Size)/(Used Space)*100. In most file systems, especially FAT16 used by most Windows95 systems, a file takes more space than it actually is. Many small files usually take more place than one big file in the same size. Generally, NTFS used by Windows NT is more efficient than FAT32 which is supported by Windows95 OSR2 and Windows98, and FAT32 is more efficient than FAT16.

Since the algorithm is pretty simple, the value is not always correct. In following cases, DiskInfo will display wrong value:

When I change the language in SafeClean, why does not "File Type Settings" change language too?

SafeClean stores the current file type settings in "Settings.dat". This file is created by SafeClean when you start the program for first time. If you change the language setting later, SafeClean won't replace this "Settings.dat" file with the original language file. The reason is to be sure that your own changes won't be removed.

If you want to change the "File type setting" to the current used language, you can simply delete the file "Setting.dat" and SafeClean will automatically create the setting file in the current language.

When you uninstall SafeClean Utilities, "Settings.dat" won't be deleted and you have to do it on your own.
