Installing, configuring, bugs, features...

If you are having trouble using VNC, or are looking for a feature or advice on how do achieve something, please try the following in this order:

  • Take time to carefully read the documentation. In particular, if you are a new user please read the getting started section.

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of VNC. You can check this by visiting the download area.

  • Make sure you have network connectivity between the computers you are trying to use VNC with. If "ping" does not work, then VNC will not! Do not go further until you can establish basic TCP/IP network connectivity!

  • Try looking in the FAQ.

  • Try browsing the troubleshooting pages.

  • Try searching the archives of the mailing list. Nearly every question imaginable has come up here over the years, and most have been answered.

  • Subscribe to the mailing list and ask your question there. Please use good netiquette, use a subject line and keep your query relevant to VNC. You should describe your problem as carefully as possible and state your client and server platforms.

    Still have problems?

If you have tried all of the above, and you still feel you have an issue which we can help with, then email info @ realvnc.com but please think before you hit send! If it is a question which is answered by any of the above, you are setting back the development of VNC by sending email.
