Import File in Paragraph Text

You can type text into a Paragraph Text object or you can import existing text files. The program supports several formats for text importing: ASCII text files (.txt), Microsoft Word documents (.doc), Rich Text Format files (.rtf) and Windows Write files (.wri). If you have any other type of file you may open it in a word processor and then save it in one of the file formats that is compatible with the program. When you import a text file, the program does not remove or delete the contents of the current text object; the import operation places the new text in the current Paragraph Text object beginning with the position of your cursor.

You access the import feature by selecting the Insert > File menu options or by clicking the InsText File Import button on the Insert Object Toolbar. When you select one of these options, the Import Text dialog box is displayed allowing you to select the file to be imported.

To import a file, you must have previously saved it in one of the compatible file formats. Simply adding an extension of .txt or .rtf does not change the file format. To convert a document to a compatible format, open the file in a word processor and save the document, making sure you have selected the correct format. Most word processors will automatically add the correct file extension based on the selected file format.
