Use the text tool to place type on the Stage. You can place type on a single line that expands as you type or in a fixed-width block that wraps words automatically. Flash displays a round handle at the upper right corner of type blocks that extend, and a square handle for type blocks with a defined width.
Flash displays a square handle at the bottom right corner of editable text fields, indicating that you can vertically size the text field according to the amount of text to be entered.
To create type:

To create a type block that widens as you type, click where you want the type to start. |

To create a type block with a fixed width, position the pointer where you want the type to start and drag to the desired width. |

Note: If you create an expanding type block, it can continue past the right edge of the Stage as you type. The text isn't lost. Add line breaks, move the type block, or choose View > Work Area to make the handle accessible again.
To change the width of either kind of type block:
Drag its resize handle.
To remove the width setting from a type block:
Double-click the resize handle.
