The NOD32 system supports several types of automatic updates and upgrades. You can specify the desired options in this window.

Notify before downloading virus databases – Check this box if you wish to be notified before the download of a new virus signature database. Leave this box blank if you wish a fully-automatic update of your anti-virus system.

In addition to updating the virus signature database, executable program components can also be updated. Options are:

• Perform program component upgrade if necessary for proper virus database function - Upgrades automatically only if the upgrade is necessary for antivirus functions.
• Notify before program components upgrade - Always display a confirmation message before upgrading any executables.
• Perform program component upgrade if available - For fully-automatic upgrades of the program components, select this option.

The virus signature database is updated 'on-the-fly' (without the need to restart your computer). Certain updates of the program components may require a restart of your computer. Restart options can be specified in the Restart after program components update section of the window.
