Scoring

In germs, you earn points for arranging germs into a pattern.
Additional points are earned when you complete multiple patterns in a row or complete two patterns with the same pair of germs.

As an additional score bonus, small "more-score" globes will appear at random over germs on the gameboard. These globes contain a multiplier (x2, x3, etc.) and will multiply the points you earn from completing a pattern by that number. However, if you pick up a germ that has a more-score globe on it, the globe will disappear.

There is also a bonus timer in the lower right corner of the screen. If you complete all the patterns in a level before the timer runs out, whatever number remains is added to your score.

Finally, you earn what is called an "Efficiency Bonus". This is calculated based on how many stray germs are on the board at the end of the level: the fewer, the better. If fewer germs are left on the board, that means you used a greater percentage of the germs you picked up in patterns.

When the game is over, if you amassed enough points, you will be prompted to enter your name to be immortalized in the Germs High Scores!
Two scoreboards are maintained, one for each skill level ("Beginner" and "Expert").
