LTOOLgui Help: Copying files, creating files, symlinks and directories
Creating new directories or Linux symlinks
- Select a directory, where you want to insert the new subdirectory or symlink.
- Click on the 'NEW' button or select menu item 'Edit - New'.
- In the pop up dialog box select 'Dir' or 'Symlink'
- Enter the new directory or symlink name
and the associated UID, GID and access right values.
- If it is a symlink, enter the symlink target's name.
- Click 'OK' to create the new directory or symlink. Click 'CANCEL'
to discard your changes.
Copying files
- Select one or more files, which you want to copy.
- Click on the 'COPY' button or select menu item 'Edit - Copy'.
- Select the directory, where you want to copy the file(s) to.
- Click on the 'PASTE' button or select menu item 'Edit - Paste'
- Note: You can copy files within Dos or within Linux or from Dos to Linux or vice versa. However, you cannot copy directories.
Linux files will have standard values for UID, GID and access rights. Use the 'MODIFY' button, if you want to change these
values.
- Drag and drop: You can also copy files using your mouse. Left click on a file (directories cannot be copied), drag it
to one of the left trees and drop it on one of the directories in a left tree. Drag and drop can only copy one file at a time.
For multiple copies use cut and paste as described above.
Note: Your Linux filesystem is set to read only by default. Uncheck menu item 'File - Linux read only' first, if you want to write
to your Linux disk.
