PhotoLine Tip 32: Create your own fill pattern

1. There are several methodes to create a fill pattern. In PL32 you can select Filter/Special Tools/Generate Background. This function creates a fill pattern with a simple mouse click. But this function can not be used on pictures which are drawn with a pencil (lines and points).
How to create such fill patterns will be explained here with a puzzle.
First of all scan a puzzle and create the outline like descriebed in tip 29.

2. Try to find a place in the puzzle that can be used for repeating and redraw the outline

3. Create a rectangle lasso on the left side

and move the selection to the right side, so that it will fit to the background

Now select Layer/Selection to Layer.

4. Activate now the background layer and change this layer so that it will exactly mach to the layer 1. When you are ready, you can delete layer 1.
Do the same with the top border of the puzzle.

5. When you have done this cut out the repeatable part of the picture.

6. Now select Tool/Color/Select Color. Select the white color and activate Destination Alpha.

7. The fill pattern is ready now and you can move it to the pattern list. Use the layer move tool from the toolbar to do this.

You will have no problem, when you drop the fill pattern onto the slider of the pattern list. PL32 will add the pattern to the bottom of the list.
