URL Access Manager Software

The URL Access Manager is designed to run on Mac OS 8.6, 9.0, and X. The implementation of the URL Access Manager is stored in a shared library, called the URL Access Shared Library. You install it in the Extensions Folder in the Systems Folder of Mac OS. The initial implementation of the data store is a local file.

If your application is designed to run on Mac OS 8.6 or later, you don't need any special software besides the URL Access Shared Library unless you are running on the Carbon.framework on Mac OS X. URL Access Manager is part of Carbon Library 1.0.2, but is not currently part of Carbon.framework on Mac OS X. As a result, in Mac OS X, you must explicitly add URLAccess.framework to your project.

You should call the function URLAccessAvailable to determine whether the URL Access Manager is available before calling any other URL Access Manager functions. The function URLGetURLAccessVersion returns the version number of the URL Access Manager installed on the current system.
