After restarting, NetTurbo isn't in my system Tray.  Why?
Unlike a program such as MemTurbo, which must run at all times to do its job, NetTurbo's program only needs to be running while you're actively making changes to your settings.  Those changes stick with your computer's network setup, and so NetTurbo does not need to be running at all times.  Thus, you will not see an icon for it in the system tray.  This is normal and intended, and saves valuable resources

What does NetTurbo actually do?
NetTurbo modifies a wide series of parameters that control how your TCP/IP stack operates.  Depending on your operating system and the selection you make for how you use your PC it selects the parameters to change and what appropriate values for those parameters should be.

A partial list of parameters it examines and (may) adjust includes: Default Time To Live, Maximum Transmission Unit, Black Hole Router detection, Keep Alive Intervals, Initial Large Buffer Count, Medium Buffer Count, Small Buffer Count, Default Receive Window, Default Send Window, Large Buffer Size, Medium Buffer Size, and others.  The values chosen will vary depending on your operating system and the type of network setup you have.

I heard Windows 98 doesn't need any tweaking.. does it?
Right out of the box Windows 98 comes with a network configuration better suited to working on the Internet than Windows 95 did.  No operating system vendor can anticipate (or even detect) exactly what environment you'll install your system into, however, and NetTurbo makes modifications to specifically tailor your network stack for your environment.  For example, while the maximum transmission unit is already much better in Windows 98 than it was in Windows 95, NetTurbo still adjusts the number and size of transmit and receive buffers, frame windows, and a number of other parameters.

Does NetTurbo do the same thing on each operating system?
No.  NetTurbo detects whether you are running a variant of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or Windows 2000 and makes its optimization decisions accordingly.  Also, not all optimizations are possible or required on each operating system, and NetTurbo takes this into consideration.

Does the Purchased version include more optimization?
Yes, depending on the operating system it includes anywhere from 3 to 12 more important optimizations.

Will the optimizations be removed at the end of 30 days?
Yes, if a licensed version is not installed at the end of 30 days, the optimizations installed by the evaluation version are automatically removed.
