You can indent a single line or several lines of text using the WYSIWYG ruler. The indents only affect the topic displayed and override any changes in the style sheet.
You can create the following kinds of indents with the ruler:
Hanging indent: Paragraph formatting in which the second and following lines of a paragraph are indented more than the first line. Hanging indents are commonly used for bulleted and numbered lists.
First-line indent: Paragraph formatting in which the first line of a paragraph is indented more than the following lines. First-line indents are commonly used for indented paragraphs.
To create a first-line indent:
Negative indent: Paragraph formatting in which the first line of a paragraph is indented less than the following lines. Negative indents can be used for headings or subheadings.
Tip: By right-clicking on the ruler, you can toggle the Snap to tick marks option. When this option is checked, you can drag the markers on the ruler so they align (or "snap") to the tick marks on the ruler. This ensures your markers align together and you align exactly to the tick marks. If you want to "nudge" the markers in smaller increments, toggle the Snap to tick marks option off.
