The Modify Style dialog includes the following selections for linked and embedded styles:
Name: Displays the name of the style.
Based on: Displays the name of the style you're basing another style on.
Style Type: Specifies the type of style (style category) to work with. Style types include:
Paragraph: Applies to entire paragraph such as Normal, Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.)
Character: Applies to selected block of text such as Subscript, Plain Text, Code, etc.)
Style for following paragraph: Indicates which style you want to implement in the next paragraph.
Preview: Shows a WYSIWYG representation of how paragraphs or characters look with the selected style applied.
Description: Displays the format settings of the style.
Format button:
Font: Specifies font types, size, color, attributes (bold, italic, small caps, underline, overline, strikethrough, blink), capitalization, superscript/subscript, word and letter spacing.
Paragraph: Specifies paragraph characteristics including alignment, indentation, and spacing.
Borders and Shading: Specifies border types, color, line thickness, spacing (clearance), and background color, image, and position (Shading tab).
Background: Defines background color, image, and position.
DHTML Effects: Applies DHTML effects to the new style.
Note: Dynamic HTML effects that are used as part of a style require Internet Explorer 5.0 or later to display properly. If your project may be viewed by earlier versions of Internet Explorer or any version of Netscape Navigator you may not want to include Dynamic HTML in your styles.
