Project Settings dialog - Advanced tab

Use the Advanced tab to merge HTML Help indexes from multiple .CHM files, add a full-text search stop list file to decrease search time, and allocate system resources for compilation.

Full-text Search Stop List File: Includes a full-text search stop list file (.STP) used with full-text search functionality. This is a text-only file (created by Help authors) that contains a list of words to ignore when Help system is scanning topic content for user-specified search words.

All words in the stop list are omitted from the search. These are usually commonly occurring words such as "the," "and," etc. that users are unlikely to search for. It decreases the size of the full-text search database, which results in a smaller compiled HTML Help (.CHM) file because fewer words are generated.

Note: The stop list file can include numbers. Microsoft HTML Help 1.2 limits the size of this file to 512 characters (about 78 words).

: Browses drives/folders to locate and select full-text search stop list files (.STP).

Edit: Opens a text editor for adding and deleting search stop words from the currently selected .STP file.

Merged Files: Displays a list of all external .CHMs added to project (for merging HTML Help indexes and ALink controls).

Add: Adds an external .CHM file to the project. The next time the project is compiled, the keywords and/or table of contents items in this file are added to the current project. (Indexes and tables of contents are merged.)

Remove: Removes a .CHM from the project. The next time the project is compiled, the keywords and/or table of contents items in this file are removed from the current project. (Keywords are removed from the index and/or books and pages are removed from the table of contents.)

Misc:

1.0 Compatibility: When the project is compiled, the .CHM file that is generated is compatible with Microsoft HTML Help 1.0. If this option is selected, Binary TOC, Binary Index and Merged .CHMs are not supported features.

Flat File: When .CHM file is compiled, paths to topics are removed. If the .CHM file is decompiled, all topics are saved at the root of the project folder, regardless of whether or not they were originally created in project subfolders.

Priority: Controls the amount of system resources to allocate to the HTML Help compiler in relation to resources allocated for other active applications. The options include:
