Matching bullet colors with text colors

By default, bullets are the same color as the paragraphs that include them. This color is based on the style used by the paragraph such as Normal, Heading 1, etc. If you highlight the text in the paragraph and change the color from the color drop-down list or Font dialog, the bullet color will inherit the text color.

You can also create a style in a style sheet and apply it to the bulleted items in your topics.

To create a colored bullet style:

  1. From the Format menu, select Styles. The Styles dialog opens.

  2. From List, select All Styles.

  3. From Available in, select the style sheet to which you want to add the bullet style.

  4. Under Styles, select the style you want to base the bullets on.

  5. Click New. The New Style dialog opens.

  6. Type the new style name in the Name text box (for example, "color-bullets").

  7. Click the Format button and select Font. The Font dialog opens.

  8. From Font color, select the color you want to use.

  9. Click OK to save the new style. Notice that Paragraph Preview displays the text in the selected color.

  10. Click OK again, and then click Close.

  11. Select the text that you want to format as a bulleted list and click Bulleted List .

  12. From the Styles list, select the new style you just created (for example, "color-bullets").

Both the bullet symbol and text are displayed in the same color, as shown in this example:
