This topic applies to the Hyperlink, Popup, and Image Map dialogs. Use these dialogs to create or update links in your topics. You can define the link and its destination as well as preview topics, select external topics, and create new topics.
Link To: Selects the destination for the link — Web Address, E-Mail, FTP, Usenet News, Multimedia, Remote Topic.
Web Address: Uses a web address as the destination. Displays default syntax (http://) to use as part of the address and author completes it with specifics.
E-Mail: Uses an email address as the destination. Displays default syntax (mailto:) to use as part of the address and author completes it with specifics.
FTP: Uses an FTP site as the destination. Displays default syntax (ftp://) to use as part of the address and author completes it with specifics.
Usenet News: Uses a newsgroup as the destination. Displays default syntax (news:) to use as part of the address and author completes it with specifics.
Multimedia: Uses a multimedia file as the destination (sound or video clip plays when users click the link). Displays a Select button and drop-down list. Select opens the Multimedia dialog for specifying the file to link to. If the file is already in the project, the file name can be selected from the drop-down list.
Remote Topic: Uses a remote topic as the destination. Displays a Select button and drop-down list. Select opens the Remote Topic dialog for selecting the .CHM file and the HTML topic to link to. If the .CHM file is already in the project, the file name can be selected from the drop-down list.
New Topic :
Opens the Create
Topic Wizard dialog so a new topic can be created as the destination
(link to) topic.
Find Topic : Opens
the Find
Topic dialog for identifying topics in the current Help project.
Target Frame: If the selected
destination is a frame
, defines the frameset to use for displaying the destination's
content. You can select the type of frame to use from the combo box, or
you can enter your own frame information.
Display as Popup: Displays the destination in a popup window rather than in the HTML Help viewer or browser.
Screen Tip text: This text appears as a label when users pause the mouse over the image.
Select Destination (file or URL): Displays a list of topics, bookmarks, frames, and URLs that can be selected as the target for the link.
Tip: To filter the list, select a custom folder from the All Folders list.
Preview: Displays a thumbnail image of the topic chosen from Select Destination. Only local HTML topics, bookmarks and frames can be displayed in Preview (not URLs).
