Creating drop-down hotspots

A drop-down hotspot is clickable text that displays additional information which "drops down" below the hotspot. The hotspot text is uniquely formatted so users can recognize it as a clickable item. You can customize the formatting for your projects. Drop-down hotspots can include both text and images.

Note: If you change hotspot formatting in the topic or in the style sheet, it's displayed using your format choices. (The online Help topics in RoboHELP use specially formatted hotspots.)

To create a drop-down hotspot:

  1. Open the topic in the WYSIWYG Editor and select the text you want to use as the hotspot. (This is the area users click to view the drop-down text.)

  2. From the DHTML menu, select Create Drop-down Hotspot and Text. The selected text is formatted as the hotspot, and a drop-down box opens, allowing you to enter text and images.

  3. Enter your new text or images in the drop-down box.

  4. Click Preview to test the special effect. When you click the hotspot, it displays the drop-down text.

Tips:

  • You can also use the formatting features in the WYSIWYG Editor to apply inline styles to hotspot text.
