Creating bookmarks

By default, hyperlinks jump to the beginning of the destination topic (top of the HTML page), but if you want users to go directly to a specific area within a topic, you can add a special navigation control known as a bookmark. Bookmarks allow users to navigate more easily and quickly to targeted topic content.

To create a new bookmark in a topic:

  1. Click on the left of the text or object where you want to insert the bookmark.

  2. Click Insert Bookmark .

  3. Enter a name for the bookmark. It can be any combination of letters and numbers and it can consist of multiple words that are separated by underscores (for example: bookmark_word_word).

  4. Click OK and save your changes.

Tips:

  • To indicate that a bookmark exists, an icon appears next to the bookmarked text or object.

  1. You need to save the topic before you can link to bookmarks.

  • The Project Manager displays a plus sign at the left side of all topics that contain bookmarks. Click the plus sign to expand the topic so you can view a list of all bookmarks it contains.
