There are a number of situations where you may find it desirable to create a hyperlink that connects to a specific location within a topic. Typical hyperlinks link to a designated topic, but by default, they jump to the top of the HTML page. To link to a specific area within a topic page, you can use a bookmark. You can link to a bookmark from within the topic itself or from any other topic in your project.
When you're creating a Help project, there are a number of situations in which bookmarks are particularly useful navigation tools. For example, you can use bookmarks to create incremental links within a topic page. You may want to do this when you create a list of FAQs and you want to give the user the opportunity to return to the top of the topic page after reading each question and answer. You would first create a bookmark at the top of the page, and then create a link to the bookmark after each answer.
To link to a bookmark from another topic, use the same process that you use to create any hyperlink. The topic bookmark will appear in the File Destination list on the hyperlinks dialog along with all other available topics.
