HTML Publisher Pro uses a simple wizard interface to allow you to create impressive publications containing graphics, HTML files and many other formats.
The first screen requests the source and destination directories for the conversion.
Enter the fully qualified path to your source file directory. This folder may reside on your harddisk, floppy, CDROM or network. It can contain HTML documents, graphics files (Bitmap, TIFF, Targa, PCX, DCX, EPSF and/or PNG), or/and AVI, TXT, VRML.
Enter the fully qualified path that will contain the created publication. This directory must already exist and must be empty. If files exist in this directory, they will be deleted by HTML Publisher Pro.
The next screen requests information about the types of files you are going to include in the conversion and guidelines about how you wish the conversions to be done.
Select the types of images and other files you wish to have converted from your source folder. If you wish one or several formats to be excluded from the completed publication, deselect it's type here.
Select the JPEG image resolution for converted images and thumbnails.
Here you choose the overall appearance of your publication, selecting the background color or image and the sortation method for the document index.
Here you choose the layout of your publication. The indexes to each document or image in the publication will be in a column on the left of the browser screen. The right side of the screen will contain the presented documents or images. Here you can set the width of the left hand column.
The third screen requests information that will be used to create a "Coverpage" for your publication. Enter whatever you would like to have published about yourself or your publication. If you blank out any or all fields, that space will appear blank on the coverpage. Blanking all fields will result in a completely blank coverpage.
Now HTML Publisher Pro has all the information needed to create your publication. Click "Finish" to create the publication now or click back to return to change one or more of parameters.
HTML Publisher Pro creates your publication in the Main folder by converting or copying the images and/or documents from source folder. If the images are not already in the JPEG or GIF format, it does the conversion to JPEG format. Thumbnail images are built and the HTML files to link the thumbnails or references to the original files are created. When the conversion/creation process is complete, you are presented with the next wizard screen. The progress of the publication creation is presented here.
The last step of the process gives you the chance to view the publication before publishing on the World Wide Web and also to connect to your FTP server and upload the complete document to your Web server.
This option will start your browser, allowing you to review your completed publication. The display starts with the file _main.mtml. You can use the open page/file function of your browser to review your publication at any time by opening the _main.html file.
Selecting this option will start Publication Transfer which was included with HTML Publisher Pro. Here you enter the URL or IP address of your FTP server, your userid and password for login, and the folder on the server where you wish the information placed. Publication Transfer will connect to your FTP server and transfer the completed publication to that directory. If you wish, you can transfer the publication at a later time by deselecting this option and running Publication Transfer independently from HTML Publisher Pro.
Click on the "Finish" button to complete the process and enjoy the impressive publication you. have created using HTML Publisher Pro.
