Taking a Flash Cards Quiz

The title bar of the Flash Cards quiz window shows the quiz name and tells you how many items are in the quiz.

On Windows computers, Petey the Parrot flies in and perches at the upper right corner, if activated with a sound Media option and the Pronunciation option (see Setting Flash Cards Options).

You can hide Petey, and he will not pronounce the names by right-clicking him and clicking Hide. You cannot get him back until the next quiz.

The main panel of the window shows the media you selected when setting options (usually a photograph or video -- it is blank if you selected just the song).

At the bottom left corner, the countdown timer runs. The name of the species replaces it when the timer reaches zero. You can change the time delay by customizing the settings.

If you check the “Replay Song” box, the song will play again and again. However, if the total time allocated for each image is less than 15 seconds, it is unlikely that there will be time to play the song a second or third time.

At the bottom right corner are controls for progression of the quiz. The countdown on the Next button shows when the next item will be displayed. You can click it if you want to move on ahead of time. You can change the time delay with customization settings.

To redisplay the previous item, click Prev.

To resize the window, click and drag any corner, or double-click the title bar. Your last resize is saved for the next quiz you take (of any type).

To stop the Quiz, click Stop. A Flash Cards quiz can automatically start again when it is finished (loop); a handy feature for retail stores. If the looping option is enabled, you must click Stop to end the quiz. If the quiz has not completed, the next time you run a quiz the program will asks whether you want to finish it.
