While MacBoot is potentially dangerous, it will never cause permanent damage to your computer. There is always a way to restore the computer to its previous state. MacBoot only modifies software, and no firmware or ROM.
As a precaution, MacBoot saves a backup of the BootX file on its first run. That file is stored in MacBoot's Application Support folder. If you still can boot the computer in Mac OS X, then you can use the following method to locate the file: Select the Reveal BootX Backup from the application menu. You need to copy this file to the following folder to restore the system to its previous state: /System/Library/CoreServices/BootX. If you are unable to make that copy because the Finder complains you don't have sufficient priviliges, then you have to change the priviliges of the target file using the Get Info window. An alternative is booting from a Mac OS 9 disk or CD-ROM and copy the file from that system.
