
1.1.2 Quick Reference
Introduction
If you look inside your System Folder, you will find many files and folders
that were installed by other programs. You will also find that it is really
hard to tell exactly which installer put them there.
In order to make managing your computer system easier, WhoInstalled?
helps you by putting the name of the installer into the Info windows of
files and folders which have just been installed into System Folder, Control
Panels Folder, Extensions Folder and Fonts Folder right after running
WhoInstalled? is a $6 shareware. You should make a payment to
the author when you decided to use this application continuously.
WhoInstalled? may be freely distributed as it is. However, if
you are publishing an article about this application or containing this
application itself on any media to publish, you must give the author advance
notice and send a copy of your product(s) to the author as soon as possible.
WhoInstalled? must be used at user's own risk.
System requirements
WhoInstalled? requires System Software 7.0.1 or later.
WhoInstalled? is a 68k native software so you can run it on both
PowerPC and 68k-based Mac OS compatible computer.
However PPC native version is also available once you register.
How to install
- Copy the file WhoInstalled? 1.1.2.sea to your hard drive.
- Double-click the WhoInstalled? 1.1.2.sea icon and follow the
instruction.
- If the archive file you downloaded is WhoInstalled? 1.1.2.hqx
or WhoInstalled? 1.1.2.sit, you must extract it with StuffIt
Expander.
- After this step, the folder WhoInstalled? 1.1.2 will be created
onto your hard drive and you can find WhoInstalled? 68k in this
folder.
How to use
- Drag installer icon (in this example, it's Apple QuickTime 4.0)...

- ... and drop onto WhoInstalled? icon.

- The start up screen would appear.

- Click anywhere in the window (or just wait a few seconds) in order
to disappear it.
- After that, another window would appear. The installer name is already
entered into the dialog box.

- Edit the name if you want.

- Press OK to go.
- The confirmation window would appear.

- Press OK.
- Then the file PutTheNameOfInstaller would be created in your
Startup Items Folder...

- ... and the installer which you chose would be launched (in this example,
it's Apple QuickTime 4.0).

- After restarting your computer, the file PutTheNameOfInstaller
in the Startup Items folder would activate the application WhoInstalled?
automatically and the dialog would appear.

- If you do not want to generate the installer log, click the
check box to make it off.

- Press OK.
- If it completes successfully, WhoInstalled? would be quitted
automatically and also the file PutTheNameOfInstaller would be deleted.

How to use initilise options
- You may want to use these options, for example, when you install Mac
OS onto your new hard drive, because you can NOT use WhoInstalled?
before the system installed.
- If you want "Install name" add to EVERY sub-folder, click
the small triangle to show the options.


- Enter the name and check the box(es) where you want to initialise.

- Press OK.
- After this step, WhoInstalled? behaves similar to the general
usage.
How to register
- Double-click the application icon to launch.
- Or choose About WhoInstalled?... from the Apple Menu.


- Enter your name and the registration number and press OK.
- You would see this dialog after registering.

How to get the registration number
You'll be able to get the registration number as long as you make a payment
to the author.
How to make a payment to the author
You can run the attached application Register in order to make
a payment through Kagi to the author.
