HP QIC and TRAVAN Tape Backup Drives
HP encourages customers to be fully aware of the potential impact that the Year 2000 could have on their business environment and their ability to compete in the 21st century. HP also encourages its customers to take responsibility for addressing needed changes as quickly as possible.
The issue
As the year 2000 approaches, computer users around the world are growing more concerned about how computer systems will handle the transition. Many computer systems and their application programs will not correctly calculate date-dependent information. This has the potential to cause vast problems for stocking issues, delivery dates, and other date related tasks.
HP Tape Products Response
All tape products produced by Hewlett-Packard Company, QIC Tape Operation have been assigned a Year 2000 compliance status of No Date Related Processing. All HP QIC and TRAVAN (HP Colorado, HP SureStore, and Colorado Memory Systems) tape backup drives and their firmware have been reviewed and determined to be free from any dependency on or impact by the eventual date change to the Year 2000. In addition, controller / accelerator cards (FC-10, FC-20, and TC-15) have been assigned a Year 2000 compliance status of No Date Related Processing.
However, as backup software is date dependent, we have actively pursued a strategy to ensure that our software would be Year 2000 compliant. At this time testing of our current software versions has been completed. The attached Millennium Compliance matrix details the results of this testing.
