If you are starting with this lesson, you can move the Tutor Docker window to another location to make it easier to work.

In the Image Window, drag the Tutor Docker window tab to a new location.

Otherwise, continue working on your file.

If you just opened the sample file, you can zoom out to improve your view.

  1. Open the Object/Mask Tools flyout, and click the Object Picker tool.
  2. In the Image Window, click anywhere.
  3. Press F3 twice to zoom out.


You can import multiple objects into the image.

  1. Click File menu, Import, Import.
  2. From the Look In list box, choose the drive on which you installed Corel PHOTO-PAINT, and choose COREL /GRAPHICS9 /TUTORS /PAINT /HTML DOCS /HTML PICS.
  3. From the Files Of Type list box, choose CPT-Corel PHOTO-PAINT Image.
  4. Hold down CTRL and click the following objects: BUTTERFLY.CPT, NEW LIZARD.CPT, RYAN.CPT, SMALL LIZARD.CPT, and TUBE.CPT.
  5. Click Open.
  6. Click in the Image Window to place the objects one at a time.

You can move the imported objects to another location.

  1. In the Image Window, ensure the butterfly is selected.
  2. Drag the butterfly to the new position.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each of the objects.


You can flip the big lizard so that it faces the opposite direction.

  1. Open the Object/Mask Tools flyout, and click the Object Picker tool.
  2. In the Image Window, click the big lizard to select it.
  3. Click Object menu, Flip, Horizontally.

You can move the big lizard to another location.

  1. Open the Object/Mask Tools flyout, and click the Object Picker tool.
  2. In the Image Window, click the big lizard.
  3. Drag the big lizard to the bottom left corner of the blue square.


You can remove portions of the lizard that fall outside the blue square by making the big lizard the child object and the blue square the parent object. This forms a clipping group.

  1. Ensure that the Objects Docker window is open.
  2. In the Objects Docker window, drag the big lizard thumbnail above the blue square thumbnail.
  3. In the third column of the Objects Docker window (to the left of the big lizard thumbnail), click to clip the big lizard to the blue square.


You can import a pair of eyes into the image.

  1. Click File menu, Import, Import.
  2. From the Look In list box, choose the drive on which you installed Corel PHOTO-PAINT, and choose COREL /GRAPHICS9 /TUTORS /PAINT /HTMLDOCS /HTML PICS.
  3. From the Files Of Type list box, choose CPT - Corel PHOTO-PAINT Image.
  4. Click EYES.CPT.
  5. Click Open.
  6. In the Image Window, click to place the eyes.


You can clip the eyes to the butterfly.

  1. Open the Object/Mask Tools flyout, and click the Object Picker tool.
  2. In the Image Window, ensure that the eyes are selected.
  3. Drag the eyes to cover the butterfly.
  4. Ensure that the Objects Docker window is open.
  5. In the Objects Docker window, click the eyes thumbnail to select it.
  6. In the Objects Docker window, ensure that the eyes thumbnail is above the butterfly thumbnail in the stacking order.
  7. In the third column (to the left of the eyes thumbnail), click to clip the eyes to the butterfly.
  8. In the Image Window, drag the eyes to ensure that they are positioned correctly in the butterfly.

You can save your file to safeguard your work.

  1. Click File menu, Save As.
  2. Choose the drive where you want to save from the Save In list box.
  3. Double-click the folder in which you want to save the file.
  4. In the File Name list box, type a filename, and click Save.
