Starting the System Service Layer
To be able to start the ToCoM Desktop, and configure your telephony integration, and to be able to use the Desktop, CallWatch, and Workflow programs, the ToCoM Message and Workflow Services must be started.
To start these services, follow these steps:
- Since installing the ToCoM Process Service, you may have re-booted your server, and the process Service (which controls the Message and Workflow Services) will ahve automatically started. You may also have previously started the service manually. To check this, use the Workflow Management Console - Manage Services option, or run the Windows NT/2000 Services applet, and check that the ToCoM Process Service is running - if it isn't, start it. This may also be because the service startup is not set to 'Automatic' - if this is the case, select 'Automatic' as the service startup type.
- Start the ToCoM Suite from the desktop shortcut.
- Click on the Workflow Console button to start the ToCoM Workflow Management Console.

- To start the Workflow and Messaging support services, click on the green 'Go' button on the toolbar. If there's a red Stop button visible, this means that the Message Service and Workflow Service are already running - so you don't need to do anything else.

You can check that the Workflow Service has initialised correctly on your server.
- Select Workflow Service Log from the Logs menu – you should see something like the following (note that it can sometimes take a few seconds for the logfile details to be flushed to the log file):

Don't worry if you haven't set up an e-mail account, or operator e-mail logging yet. This can be set up later – see the Workflow Management Console User's Guide for details.
The ToCoM support services are now active.
