How to enter English words and collocations
Rules of entering a word:
- A verb
should be entered in the form of Infinitive
(for example, finish).
- A noun
should be entered in singular
(for example, book), except the case when the
noun is used only in plural (for example, people).
- An adjective
should be entered in the positive degree of comparison
(for example, long). If the comparative and superlative forms are formed in non-standard way (for example, good-better-best),
they should be entered separately.
- There are no special restrictions on the form of an adverb to be
entered into the dictionary.
Rules for entering a collocation:
- The main word in a collocation should be entered according to the rules
for entering words.
- If the main (changeable) word in a collocation is a verb, it should
be the first in the collocation (for example, make a decision).
- If the main (changeable) word in a collocation is a noun or an adjective, it
should be the first, or the last in the collocation (for example, accident protection device).
The plural forms will be automatically
distinguished by the program during translation.
- If the dependent words in the collocation are disposed before and after the
main noun, you should enter both singular
and plural forms of the collocation (for example, high commiscioner
for refugee and high commiscionerS for
refugee).
