Version 1.0 Preview Build 9 July 25th 2001
- Direct Connect.exe can now be launched with command line arguments. The exe currently only accepts one argument. The argument should be in the form dchub://hubaddress:<port>/<username>/<filepath> where <port>, <username>, and <filepath> are all optional.
- dchub:// is now a registered URL handler. This means that links like dchub://hubaddress:<port>/<username>/<filepath> will work from just about any place an http link would work from. It will work from within web pages, from the run command, from the IE and Windows Explorer address bar, and many other locations.
- A bug having to do with using the auto connect feature to connect to localhost has been resolved.
- The text "Request Connect" has been changed to "Browse User's Files".
- Right clicking on the public hublist now offers an additional option: "Refresh". This option will clear the cached hub list and retrieve a new copy.
- The settings window now has a help button that links to the getting started guide on the neo-modus.com website.
- The algorithm controlling the history pane in the connection window has been rewritten. The history feature now works as it should. It keeps track of the last ten hubs that connections were attempted for. No duplicates will exist in the list, and the most recently connected to hub will always be at the top of the list.
- Holding the mouse cursor over a queue item will now bring up a tool tip describing the status of that queue item.
- The bug that kept the user list from populating in large hubs has been fixed.
- When reconnecting to the same hub you were connected to last, DC will automatically enter your operator password if it is requested and your name has not changed. This should alleviate many of the errors having to do with showing a non modal window when a modal window was being displayed.
- The settings window now disappears after pressing the Ok button - rather than waiting for the file list generation to complete.
- Direct Connect now allows users to force it to specify a specific IP address rather than the machines actually address. This will allow users with routers to use port mapping or DMZs to use Direct Connect in Active Mode.
- Hyperlinks now work from the notepad applet.
- Fixed a bug that occurred after deleting all items from a users queue and then right clicking in the empty queue pane.
- The status bar in the file view window is now updated when the keyboard is used to navigate a users file structure.
- The system try tool tip now is identical to Direct Connect's main window's caption - this allows users to see what hub they are connected to without maximizing the window.
- Users in passive mode no longer provide search results to passive users since two passive users cannot connect to each other.
- Direct Connect now respects multi user environments by storing all of its registry settings in HKEY_CURRENT_USER rather than HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- History items are now always added to the top of the history.
- The history is now set to hold only the 200 most recent uploads and downloads. This should keep DC from bogging down if the user download thousands of small files.
- The default font color for DC is now white.
- Users are now warned against sharing c:
- Direct Connect now gives more detailed status information while downloading the public hublist.
- "Private Message" is now an option in the context menu for file transfers.
- Satellite is now a connection type in the settings.
- If users choose Satellite as their connection type they are asked if they would like to use passive mode since most satellite systems are unidirectional.
- You can now download folders from the folder pane, rather than just from the folder and file pane.
- When Direct Connect rebuilds the file list while you are away, it suppresses the status window.
- A "Browse User's Files" menu item is available from the upload and download transfer stats.
- A user's share size is now updated after using the refresh command.
- A bug that caused Direct Connect to do a multi-hub search even if the multi-hub search option was not checked, has been corrected.
