Zakłady Płyt Pilśniowych Co. in Przemyśl is a modern, well known and respected on the world markets producer of fibreboards. The firm was established in 1959 by the Decree of Minister of Industry and Woodworks Industry. After 5 years of construction in the 1964 the first two production lines of hardboards were actuated. In December 1970 the porous fibreboard production line was actuated. As the last one, the department of lacquered hardboards has started to work in 1976. During over 30 years in business, the production lines were thoroughly modernised. It has effected in considerable increasing the production ability and introducing new technical and technological solutions. Particular attention was paid on the subject of environment protection. Nowadays the production lines are able to produce 41 600 tons /year of hardboards, 29 200 tons /year of poured fibreboards, 4 200 000 m2 / year of lacquered fibreboards. With the day of 1 St April 1994 Zakłady Płyt Pilśniowych was transformed from national establishment into the Company. The next step towards the privatization of the Works was to contribute shares of the Company to National Investment Funds. It took place on September 12th 1995 when the Public Purse contributed 60% of Factory's shares to National Investment Funds - at the same time 33% of he shares comprised the National Investment Fund "Fortuna" S.A. in Warsaw which for the Company is the leading fund. The remaining fourteen funds have comprised 27% of shares in the equal parts. The other Company shareholders are the Public Purse - 25% of shares and factory hands - 15% of shares. |
