Dutch goalkeeper Ronald JANSEN had eight saves on the night, helping limit the Australians to 1-of-9 shooting from the field and just 1-of-4 on penalty corners. Australia's Katrina POWELL lifted a desperation shot over the outstretched arms of Korean goalkeeper YOU Jae-Sook with :21 remaining in the match, giving the Aussies a 3-3 tie with Korea in a key women's hockey game Thursday night. CHANG Eun-Jung scored twice for Korea to tie the game at 2-2, then CHO Eun-Jung connected on a penalty corner shot with 9:58 left to give the Koreans the temporary lead. The tie keeps Australia unbeaten in Olympic Games action at 3-0-1 while Korea is 2-1-1.
Final Score: AUS 3, KOR 3.
"Sometimes the other team gets afraid of losing," said Australian coach Ric CHARLESWORTH. "Our team realized they had to do something a little extra."
USA vs. ARG
Argentina Holds Off Americans Late, 2-1
Sofia MACKENZIE scored in the 60th minute to give Argentina the lead and the defense made sure there would be no last-minute American rally as Argentina upset the United States 2-1 in the final game of women's hockey on Thursday, seriously damaging the Americans' hopes for a medal. The United States had a chance to tie the game with :03 remaining, but Barb MAROIS's penalty corner shot sailed wide, sealing the verdict. Argentina is now 2-2 while the United States fell to 1-2-1.

Late Goal Ties Great Britain, Spain:
Great Britain's Kathryn JOHNSON scored on a deflected penalty corner play in the 67th minute to help the British tie Spain 2-2 in the women's hockey opener on Thursday. Earlier in the second half, Nagore GABELLANES had given Spain a 2-1 lead when she scored on a penalty corner play. Myntje DONNERS scored two second-half goals, including the game-winner following a 20-minute weather delay, to lead the Netherlands to a crucial 4-3 women's hockey win over Germany. DONNERS' first goal came during a torrential downpour and her second, a penalty corner shot in the 63rd minute, proved to be the difference. South Africa's Furious Rally Ties Koreans, 3-3:
Two goals with under 4:00 left to play boosted South Africa to a 3-3 tie with Korea in the men's hockey opener on Thursday. After Korea's KIM Young-Kyu scored to give his team a 3-1 lead with 10:38 remaining, South Africa began a high-pressure attack. William FULTON scored on a penalty stroke with 3:54 left to pull South Africa within 3-2, and Gregory NICOL scored his second goal of the game on a penalty corner with 2:26 to play to seal the verdict. Chris MYBURGH had six saves to help the South African cause. Final Score: RSA 3, KOR 3.
