Olympic Equestrian Three Day Event Recaps: 21 July (Day 2)

Team Three Day Event/ Dressage Rounds 1 and 2

United States Holds Lead After Day One:

At the conclusion of Sunday's competition, the United States stands in first place with a 4.2-point lead over Great Britain. Two riders from each team have completed the dressage phase, with two more from each team to ride Monday. The USA was represented today by the husband and wife team of David and Karen O'CONNOR, riding Giltedge and Biko, respectively. The British team got off to a tremendous start when Ian STARK and Stanwick Ghost posted a penalty score of 35.20, the best of the day. Karen O'CONNOR holds the second-best score with a penalty total of 39.60, as she and STARK were the only two to keep their scores under 40. Team three day dressage competition concludes Monday with performances from the final two riders of each team. The USA will be represented by five-time Olympian Bruce DAVIDSON on Heyday and Jill HENNEBERG on Nirvana, while Britain will counter with Gary PARSONAGE on Magic Rouge and Karen DIXON on Too Smart. Current Leaders, team penalty score: United States, 80.40, Great Britain, 84.20, Canada, 87.20
