ACOG - Sights and Sounds - IBM

Multimedia Tools

The Official 1996 Olympic Games Web Server contains many multimedia features. If you are unable to access any of them, you may need to download some of the following multimedia tools.

Audio Files

Audio Files Audio files can be heard by using various existing tools in your browser and sound card to download the file to your machine. A new feature is "streaming audio" -- sound files that play on your computer while downloading, rather than waiting until the entire file has been downloaded.

Bamba is a beta version of a streaming audio plug-in from IBM Research that allows you to play streaming audio live over the Internet. The plug-in is designed to provide high quality audio over the low-bandwidth and dial-up connections that are typical on the Internet today (14.4 and 28.8 Kbits/sec).

Listening to audio clips using Bamba, a technology demonstration of a streaming audio from IBM Research, requires Netscape Navigator Version 2.0 or higher running on Windows 95 and Windows NT.

Download Bamba Here!

Shockwave Files

Shockwave files are played simply by moving your mouse over them. You must have the Shockwave plug-in for Netscape, though. You can get it at:
