Participants are selected by world rankings and zone trials. The United States automatically qualified as host country.
Competition Format
Round-robin format, with players divided into equal groups. The winners of each group advance into a knock-out competition.
Games cannot end in a tie. The game is won by the first player or pair to score two subsequent points more than the opposition, after scoring 21 points.
