    Cyclists ride through the residential and commercial neighborhoods of the Buckhead community, north of downtown Atlanta. Seating available only for Olympic Family.

    Qualifications
    Based on 1995 Amateur World Championships and wild cards. Each NOC selects the specific athletes, usually through Olympic trials in the year prior to the Games.

    Competition Format
    Road Race: Men cover 17 laps, and the women travel the course eight times. The first cyclist across the finish line is the winner.
    Individual Time Trial: Cyclists start at intervals, and race against the clock. The cyclist with the fastest time over the course (four laps for men, two laps for women) is declared the winner.

    European riders have dominated the road races, winning men’s road race and time trial every year but 1984. The women will compete in road cycling in 1996 for only the third time.
