Women's 25-Meter Sport Pistol/Final Round
Li Duihong Breaks Olympic Record
In women's sport pistol qualifying, LI Duihong (CHN) broke fellow competitor Marina LOGVINENKO's (RUS) Olympic record of 587 with a score of 589. LI qualified in first place for the final, LOGVINENKO finished in fourth. LOGVININKO took the silver medal in the women's air pistol event earlier this week.
Final results: Gold - LI Duihong (CHN), 687.9; Silver - Diana YORGOVA (BUL), 684.8; Bronze - Marina LOGVINENKO (RUS) 684.2.
China Looking for Second Gold
YANG Ling (CHN) qualified in first place for the men's running target final, topping Michael JAKOSITS' (GER) previous Olympic record by 5 points. Teammate XIAO Jun placed sixth in the preliminaries, increasing China's chances for a medal. JAKOSITS missed the final by two points, shooting a 568 in the preliminary round.
Final Results: Gold - YANG Ling (CHN), 685.8; Silver - XAIQ Jun (CHN), 679.8; Bronze - Miroslav JANUS (CZE), 678.4.
Three Still Clean in Preliminary
Ennio FALCO (ITA), Juan ROMERO (GUA), and Miroslaw RZEPKOWSKI (POL) all shot a score of 75 out of a possible 75 Friday in the men's skeet qualification round. If they do as well Saturday, they could tie the world record of 125. Andrea BINELLI (ITA) and Boriss TIMOFEJEVS (LAT) are tied for fourth place with a score of 74. Another qualification round is scheculed for Saturday, when the competitors will shoot the remaining two rounds.
