The Games of the First Modern Olympiad featured Cycling, but
cycling for women was not added to the programme until 1984 in Los Angeles.
Cycling in the Olympic Games features three disciplines:
Cycling - Track,
Cycling - Road and
Cycling - Mountain Bike.
Cycling - Track is held on an oval
racing track with banked sides called a velodrome. Cycling - Mountain Bike,
held on a natural course, has been added as another discipline for
the 1996 Olympic Games.
In 1996, Cycling - Track will be held at the Stone Mountain Velodrome,
Cycling - Road will take place on a course in Metro Atlanta and
Cycling - Mountain Bike will take place at the Georgia International Horse Park
in Conyers, Georgia.
| Closing Ceremony of the 1996 Games involved a crew of 2,100 who worked with more than 3,500 performers as well as thousands of athletes who celebrated on the field of Olympic Stadium. |
