Olympic Equestrian - Jumping Recaps: 29 July (Day 10)

Individual Jumping/First Qualifying Round

Seven Clear Rounds on First Day

Eighty-one horses completed course designer Linda Allen's southern-themed stadium course at the Georgia International Horse Park on Monday. Just 13 horses completed the course with no jumping faults, while seven riders posted double-clear rounds (no time faults) on the day. Early rounds were affected by the weather, as the brightest morning sun of the Olympic Games hid the back rail of a natural oxer for the first third of the field. The United States is the only nation with two riders completing double-clear rounds, as Anne KURSINSKI on Eros and Leslie BURR-HOWARD on Extreme finished the day with no faults. Team competition begins on 1 August and 45 individuals will advance to individual competition on 4 August.

Double-Clear Rounds: Helmut MORBITZER/Racal (AUS), Ludo PHILIPPAERTS/King Darco (BEL), Ludger BEERBAUM/Ratina (GER), Valerio SOZZI/Gaston M (ITA), Anne KURSINSKI/Eros (USA), Leslie BURR-HOWARD/Extreme (USA)

"I'm glad I got this round under my belt," said Anne KKURSINSKI of the United States. "The course was very inviting. It asked for a lot of little things."
