Team Three Day Event / Dressage Results

U.S. Maintains Lead After Dressage:

A strong performance by five-time Olympian Bruce DAVIDSON on Heydey helped the United States maintain a narrow lead over Great Britain at the conclusion of three day event team dressage competition. DAVIDSON and Heydey earned a score of 42.60 penalty points, giving the U.S. a dressage team total of 123 penalty points, with DAVIDSON's performance added to those of husband and wife team Karen and David O'CONNOR, who turned in scores of 39.60 and 40.80 on Biko and Giltedge, respectively. Jill HENNEBERG and Nirvana rounded out the U.S. contingent with a score of 57.0, which was dropped from the team total. The U.S. increased their lead over second-place Great Britain by 1 point, as Britain's Gary PARSONAGE on Magic Rouge and Karen DIXON on Too Smart turned in scores of 62.6 and 43.6, respectively, to round out Britain's team total of 127.8 points.

Weather conditions predicted for tomorrow at the Georgia International Horse Park will not result in a further shortening of the endurance phase, which is scheduled to begin at 6:45 on Tuesday with Blyth TAIT of third-place New Zealand on Chesterfield. Team Standings After Dressage (in penalty points): United States, 123.0; Great Britain, 127.8; New Zealand, 135.6

"I'm very happy with the dressage rides put in by our team," said United States chef d'equippe (team leader) Captain Mark Phillips. "You have to be pleased when all four horses have their best scores ever."
