Before all of the cheering begins at the 1996 Olympic Games, 500 people in the world will possess the ultimate Olympic memorabilia. To celebrate each day of the 500-day countdown to the Centennial Games, a one-of-a-kind, individually numbered T-shirt is offered at the Centennial Olympic Games Hanes T-shirt Auction. Win it and nobody else will have one like it. Nobody! Even better, winning bids are tax-deductible because all proceeds benefit the Children's Olympic Ticket Fund or the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team.
The Countdown Auctions began 7 March 1995 and will be held daily until 19 July 1996, the day of the Opening Ceremony. Although most of the auctions will be held at Lenox Square in Atlanta, occasionally the auctions travel to other major U.S. Cities, so be on the look out for when it comes to your area so you can experience the "Countdown to the Dream" in person. The Auctions feature Olympians, such as Dan Jansen at the Day 366 Auction, and other special guests as auctioneers.
Bidders who are not able to attend the auctions in person can participate by placing a Silent Bid. Call (404) 880-5286 and be prepared to give your full name, address, phone number, credit card number, and the amount of money you are willing to bid. You may bid on a specific Hanes T-shirt or submit a "standing bid" for each day's auction. Also, Silent Bid forms are available by writing to:
