Marcia PANKRATZ scored in the 18th minute, and Liz TCHOU added a goal in the 38th minute as the United States downed Spain ,2-0, in the final game of the 1996 Olympic Games for both squads before a near-capacity crowd at Morris Brown College. American goalkeeper Patty SHEA had an outstanding game, turning away eight shots while handing Spain its fourth shutout in seven games. The win lifted the United States to fifth place with a 2-3-2 record. Spain finishes eighth in the eight-team pool at 0-6-1.

AUS vs. NED
Aussies Prepare for Gold-Medal Showdown With 4-0 Triumph Over Dutch:
Jenny MORRIS, Danni ROCHE, Michelle ANDREWS and Alyson ANNAN scored second-half goals to lead unbeaten Australia to a 4-0 triumph over the Netherlands in the final women's hockey preliminary match of the 1996 Olympic Games. The Aussies have outscored their opponents 24-4 during the tournament. Australia, 6-0-1, now advances to the gold-medal match against Korea, while the Netherlands, 3-2-2, prepares for its bronze-medal game against Great Britain. Both matches are slated for Thursday at Morris Brown College.

ARG vs. GBR
British Women Clinch Bronze-Medal Game Berth With Win Over Argentina
Jane SIXSMITH and Mandy NICHOLLS did all of the damage, scoring three and two goals, respectively, as Great Britain clinched a berth in the women's hockey bronze-medal game with a 5-0 victory over Argentina on Tuesday. Great Britain led 2-0 before a three-goal outburst in the last 6:00 of the match expanded the score to 5-0. Great Britain moves into the bronze-medal match with a 3-2-2 record. Argentina dropped to 2-4-1.
Final Score: GBR 5, ARG 0.
"We were definitely out there to get a goal first of all," SIXSMITH said. "There was a big difference [between this and other matches], we scored early on and maintained that pressure."
KOR vs. GER
Koreans Advance to Gold-Medal Game With Shutout of Germany
CHANG Eun-Jung scored a first-half goal, and spectacular goalkeeping by YOU Jae-Sook helped maintain the lead as Korea advanced to the women's hockey gold-medal game with a 1-0 blanking of Germany on Tuesday. German goalkeeper Birgit BEYER was equally impressive, notching nine saves on the afternoon. Both offenses were frustrated throughout the day, as Korea was 1-for-14 shooting while Germany was 0-for-10. Korea enters the final match on Thursday with a 4-1-2 mark, while Germany finishes the tournament with a 2-4-1 record.
