Alexander Memorial Coliseum

Located in the heart of the Olympic Ring, the 330-acre (133-hectare) Georgia Tech campus will play a vital role during the Centennial Olympic Games. More than $150 million in new campus housing facilities for both Georgia Tech and Georgia State University students, partly funded by ACOG, plus temporary facilities such as a 3,500-seat dining hall and an International Festival area, will serve as the main Olympic Village during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. Alexander Memorial Coliseum, Georgia Tech's basketball arena, will be the site of the boxing competition and the new Georgia Tech Aquatic Center will host all four disciplines of aquatics. The Aquatic Center features the Olympic swimming pool; a diving pool with 1m and 3m springboards and full tower complex (5m, 7.5m, 10m towers); an adjacent water polo pool; and a 14,600-seat shaded outdoor main stadium. Georgia Tech is one of the most prominent research universities in the country with a total enrollment of 13,000 students.
