Cyber-Time 4.1

Database Editor

The Database Editor is a utility for the system administrator that can directly edit records in all databases that Cyber-Time uses. It allows for the alteration of records and fields that are not normally accessible by any other means. It also has the ability to delete records, such as erroneous receipts and other records the system administrator wants to remove. The utility also has a export function and database repair function.

-Starting the Database Editor

To start the Database Editor, go to the Cyber-Time 4.1 program group under START- PROGRAMS. Click on Database Editor.

Each page represents a different database in the Cyber-Time package. While it certainly may be necessary to perform various maintenance tasks using this program, it is important to realize that even a small error in deletion or editing can result in a database structure that Cyber-Time can no longer use. Like an accounting program, Cyber-Time must be able to match up data from one database with other data elements in other database files. When in question about a record delete or edit, contact Cyber-Time technical support via e-mail.

Each database shares the function button at the top of the screen. Each button does what it implies to the visible database page.

Creates a new record.

Cancels the current insert or edit of data.

Deletes the current record.

Saves the current inserted or edited record.

-The Database Functions Page

This page contains two functions. The first is a function displayed as pack and repair. If problems are ever experienced such as BDE errors or slow system responses, or it as been found that the databases in the Cyber-Time subdirectory on the server seem to be unusually large, perform this function. The procedure will attempt to repair and clean up the files as well as re-index them. If problems continue, or the repair and packing operation results in errors, contact Cyber-Time tech support by e-mail and explain the problem.

The second function allows the user database to be exported to a text file for use in e-mail programs, mailing lists, etc. Simple click the "Export User List To Text File" button and provide a filename and location, and the database will be exported to the file. It can then be read by any text reader or spreadsheet program.
