IdN Design Awards DA99->00 Visual collection
IdN (International designers Network) acts as an inspiration for both aspiring and well-established designers through its magazines and CD-ROMs. It provides in-depth studies of how modern day digital artists arrive at and develop their most creative ideas. An important, and increasingly recognised, part of this process is the biennial IdN Design Awards, which serves to encourage designers throughout the Asia-Pacific region to measure their skills against those of their peers. Apart from the possibility of winning major prizes donated by leading industry vendors, the competition offers excellent exposure through the '101 Collection'. This is exhibited at roadshows worldwide and through the catalogue, which has become a collector's item.
For this APC DVD, IdN has been kind enough to supply a selection of competition entries in the categories of 'Video Productions/Animation', 'Web Design' and 'CD-ROM Production'. These are not only inspiring but also great fun.
This year's competition is the biggest and best so far with nearly 2,000 entries from across Asia and the Pacific, and the largest and most impressive roster of judges to date. The criteria for judging -- fiendishly difficult as always, and inevitably subjective -- were based essentially on creativity rather than technical skills, and on the degree to which the entrants achieved the goals they set themselves. The award program included a Content-Creation Presentation Program (CCPP) which was staged in four cities -- Taipei, Guangzhou, Sydney and Singapore -- with resounding success. This led to the final grand prize-giving ceremony in Hong Kong on December 1, 1999.
The fourth biennial IdN Design Awards DA99->00 Visual collection contains work from the entrants in book format, plus two interactive CD-ROMs. Click here for details on how to order the catalogue or the IdN magazine (Adobe Acrobat Reader is required).
