October 19 - Employment issues facing a TG/TS
Discussion led by Erin Swinson, issues facing the TG/TS with employment in the 1990's. Two approaches were mentioned: Starting a new job being TG or TS and problems that may occur when transitioning on the job. Questions and answers followed the discussion.
November 2 - Speech
Dr. Richard Adler was the guest speaker. He discussed the importance of voice in part of transition and explained the methods used to help change voice. Dr. Adler answered group questions.
November 9 - Potluck dinner with Rev. Wilhelmina Hines
Wilhelmina Hines was the honored guest at our potluck supper. Hines is a transgendered MCC minister from New Zealand and she spoke about differences between transgender issues in New Zealand vs. US.
January 4 - General meeting - Role playing
AGE's first meeting of 1997 had 15-20 show for a general meeting. Carl opened the group to general discussion in which people discussed what was new in their lives, good/bad news, ideas and resolutions for 1997. The main presentation was the importance of obversational in gender roles. Some questions were: Do two women walking together tend to walk differently than a man and a woman? Are women as inclined as men to place their hands in their pockets?-under what circumstances? Are men or women more likely to lean forward while engaged in conversation? Questions were followed by demostration by other group members.
January 18 - Newcomers meeting - TG Safety
General announcements and discussion were led by 15-20 people. There was a break at 6pm. Presentation was started by Erin shortly after the break. The topic was TG safety/etiquette. More emphasis was placed on TG Safety. Highlights were: be venerable, safety in numbers, passability DOES NOT equal safety, rule of squares (3 people x 3 are 9 times more likely not to pass), and tips on being arrested (dont try to hide your gender;ect.) Discussion followed with question and answers and general comments from group members.
February 1 - General meeting - Post transition issues
AGE welcomed a whopping 30 people to the meeting, new faces and old friends for this nights discussion. Meeting started at 5pm with general comments and announements from the President Carl. Carl introduced other board members: Treasurer - Denise R, Secretary - Riki X, and mentioned the need for a newsletter editor if anyone was intrested in volunteering for this job. Other announcements were the awards banquet (4/26) steering commitee meeting (2/2) AGE social (2/11) and upcoming meetings. A short break followed. Presentation was lead by 3 post op TS's. Discussion focused on short answers to the questions of life in a new gender role and what encounters the TS faced in new gender role. Presentation was mixed with question and answer from group members.
February 15 - newcomers meeting - Discovering your Gender
Group attendance brought out 15-20 people with 3 newcomers to this nights AGE meeting. Carl made general announcements and general discussion followed. Presentation was led by Jan. Jan talked about discovering one's gender through therapy, probing and other techniques.
March 1 - general meeting - S/O Issues
The nice 80 degree day had 24 people attend Marchs general meeting. The president opened the meeting to general discussion, announcements and other business matters. The nights presentation consisted of a panel of 3 couples discussed written questions from group members such as: How are finances handled? Comment on the transition of spouse, if spouse transitioned during course of relationship. . How do you gain s/o support?
March 15 - newcomer meeting - Transforming your identity
This saturday we had a rather small turnout. 5-7 people showed as well as 2 newcomers. Tonights discussed centered around transforming your identity. The president conducted the presentation which included: ways to change yourself on paper or your inner/outer self, legal name change and the paperwork trail was spoken about.
April 5 - general meeting
AGE had 15-17 people turnout for this first general meeting of April. General discussion was opened by a group facilitator and members discussed what was going on in their lives. The president made some general announcements, one being that the next steering committee would be April 13 at 1pm. The meeting will take place at the presidents home. Following announcements, a short break was given. Tonight’s presentation was given by Max and detailed shamanism and the transgendered person. This informative lecture explained the word "trans" which means acrossed, beyond or through . . . also discussed was the shaman and their interaction in different cultures and times. The Shaman are trans- mediator and move between two worlds, a sub class of holy person different from any other person. Max brought books to make picture illustrations. Presentation followed with questions and answer session.

Techniques to help individuals do problem solving on issues in their lives. Jan Heckler presented.
May 17 - New comers meeting - Medical and Paramedical Issues
June 7 - General meeting - Make up and hair seminar
*Was cancled due to presenter no-show. We had a presentation on electroloysis by Shazzle. Shazzle is a new electrologist in the community and did a very detailed explanation on how it works and the diferent kinds of electrolysis.
June 21 - New comers meeting - The Transgender Community
July 5 - General meeting - No meeting due to July 4th Holiday -
July 19 -New comers meeting - No meeting / Picnic
Picnic at Kelly Ofer Park in Tucker. Approximately 15 people came to the picnic, and everyone had a good time eating and socializing.
August 2 - General meeting - Everything you wanted to know about TG sexuality (but were afraid to ask)
Carl Tripp presented, this was a group discussion. Group talked about dating, being sexual with others, sexual orientation, and generally how being TG affects these areas. August 16 - New comers meeting - Family and friends
