MemoryStream Methods

The methods of the MemoryStream class are listed below. For a complete list of MemoryStream class members, see the MemoryStream Members topic.

Public:

BeginRead (inherited from Stream) Begins an asynchronous read.
BeginWrite (inherited from Stream) Begins an asynchronous write.
Close Closes the stream for reading and writing.
EndRead (inherited from Stream) Ends a pending asynchronous read request.
EndWrite (inherited from Stream) Ends an asynchronous write.
Equals (inherited from Object) Determines whether the specified Object is the same instance as the current Object. Subclasses are expected to override this method to support value equality (not reference equality).
Flush Overrides Flush so that no action is performed.
GetBuffer Returns the array of unsigned bytes from which this Stream was created.
GetHashCode (inherited from Object) Serves as a hash function for a particular type, suitable for use in hashing algorithms and data structures like a hash table.
GetType (inherited from Object) Gets the Type of the Object.
Read Reads a block of bytes from the current stream and writes the data to buffer.
ReadByte Reads a byte from the current stream.
Seek Sets the current position within the current stream to the specified value.
SetLength Sets the length of the current stream to the specified value.
ToArray Writes the entire stream contents to a byte array, regardless of the Position property.
ToString (inherited from Object) Returns a String that represents the current Object.
Write Writes a block of bytes to the current stream using data read from buffer.
WriteByte Writes a byte to the current stream.
WriteTo Writes the entire contents of this MemoryStream to another stream.

Protected:

CreateWaitHandle (inherited from Stream) Allocates a WaitHandle object efficiently.
Finalize (inherited from Object) Allows an Object to attempt to free resources and perform other cleanup operations before the Object is reclaimed by the Garbage Collector (GC). This method may be ignored by the runtime; therefore, necessary cleanup operations should be done elsewhere.
MemberwiseClone (inherited from Object) Creates a shallow copy of the current Object.
