Dictionary Methods

The methods of the Dictionary class are listed below. For a complete list of Dictionary class members, see the Dictionary Members topic.

Public:

Add Adds an entry with the specified key and value into the Dictionary.
Clear Removes all entries from the Dictionary.
Contains Determines whether the Dictionary contains an entry with the specified key.
CopyTo Overloaded. Copies the Dictionary values into a one-dimensional array.
Equals (inherited from Object) Determines whether the specified Object is the same instance as the current Object. Subclasses are expected to override this method to support value equality (not reference equality).
GetEnumerator Returns an enumerator which can be used to iterate through the Dictionary.
GetHashCode (inherited from Object) Serves as a hash function for a particular type, suitable for use in hashing algorithms and data structures like a hash table.
GetObjectData Implements the ISerializable interface and returns the data needed to serialize the Dictionary.
GetType (inherited from Object) Gets the Type of the Object.
OnDeserialization Implements the ISerializable interface and raises the deserialization event when the deserialization is complete.
Remove Removes the entry with the specified key from the Dictionary.
Synchronized Returns a synchronized (thread-safe) wrapper for the Dictionary.
ToString (inherited from Object) Returns a String that represents the current Object.

Protected:

Finalize (inherited from Object) Allows an Object to attempt to free resources and perform other cleanup operations before the Object is reclaimed by the Garbage Collector (GC). This method may be ignored by the runtime; therefore, necessary cleanup operations should be done elsewhere.
MemberwiseClone (inherited from Object) Creates a shallow copy of the current Object.
