XmlIdent Class

The XmlIdent class represents an XML identifier.

Object
   XmlIdent

[Visual Basic]
Public Class XmlIdent
[C#]
public class XmlIdent
[C++]
public __gc class XmlIdent
[JScript]
public class XmlIdent

Remarks

An XML identifier has a Name property that gives the local part of the identifier, and a Namespace property that gives the namespace URI of the identifier.

The Namespace property may be an empty string (as is the case for identifiers in an XML document that doesn't use namespaces), but the Name property is never an empty string. Neither of the two properties are ever null.

Every XML identifier belongs to an XML context. Within an XML context, two identifiers with the same name and namespace are represented by the same XmlIdent object instance. Thus, to compare two identifiers from the same XML context for equality, a simple compare of the two object references can be used.

The Context property represents the XML context to which an identifier belongs. XML identifiers are created using the GetID family of methods.

Requirements

Namespace: System.Xml

Assembly: System.dll
