Microsoft SDK for Java

Finding Information

The documentation set for the Microsoft® SDK for Java is organized to make finding information easy. It includes a Table of Contents that lists classes, methods, fields, an Index, and so on.

The topics in the Programmer's Guide contain overview and how-to information on using the APIs, packages, and samples that the Microsoft SDK for Java provides to help you develop Java programs and applets. These topics link to their appropriate Reference topics.

The Tools Reference is now a separate topic rather than being included in the Programmer’s Guide.

The Reference topics provide detailed coverage of packages and their members including all major classes, constructors, methods, interfaces, and fields.

This release also includes Document Conventions and a Glossary.

Finding a Help Topic

HTML Viewer has three tabs to help you find the topic you're looking for.

Contents

Use the Contents tab to browse through a table of contents, an expandable list of important topics.

Index

Use the Index tab to see a list of index entries; topics are often indexed under more than one entry.

Search

Use the Search tab to locate every occurrence of a word or phrase.

Click the Contents entry, Index entry, or Search results entry to display the corresponding topic. To see the topic’s location in the table of contents, click Locate on the toolbar.

Full-Text Search

  1. Click the Search tab.

  2. Type the word you want to find.
If you need to locate a phrase, enclose it in double quotes.
For example, when searching for the phrase Java/COM integration, use "Java/COM integration." If you search for phrases without using double quotes, your results will display separate word occurrences. That is, you’ll get results for "Java," "COM," and "Integration" rather than occurrences of the entire phrase.

If you have other search requirements, click the right arrow at the end of the search’s text box. Add between the words you are searching for, such as "Java" AND "COM" NOT Native.

  3. Click List Topics.

  4. Select the topic you want, and then click Display.

Highlighting Words in Searched Topics

  1. Click Options.

  2. Click Search Highlight On.

To turn this option off, click Options, and then click Search Highlight Off.

Using Favorites

The Favorites tab conveniently stores your frequently used Help Viewer topics.

  2. Click the Favorites tab.

  3. Click Add.
