Native tree nursery creates jobs for the disabled
Based in Alcala de Henares (Madrid), El Encin is one of WWF-Spain's most successful forest projects, combining research and production of native tree species with the creation of jobs for disabled people.

As a joint initiative between WWF-Spain, Comunidad Autonoma de Madrid and ONCE ( the organisation for blind and disabled people), the project has created six jobs for people with disabilities.

Since El Encin was founded in 1994, it has produced more than three million native plants and, in 1997 alone, more than one hundred and twenty different species of trees were distributed to restore a wide variety of Spain's native woodlands.
