RHINO MISSION AND WORKSHOP

National Plan for the Conservation of the Black Rhinoceros was drawn up as a result of a WWFfunded workshop held in Garoua in June 1993. The plan's objectives are the selection of a suitable site for the relocation and consolidation of the species population and implementation of the necessary relocation. It also envisages collection of information on the biology, ecology and behaviour of the subspecies to ensure sound management. The plan, moreover, seeks to maintain a protected rhino sanctuary. Population surveys are already underway.
