SCHOLARSHIPS

a group of college students Since 1968, WWF has supported the Mweka College of African Wildlife Management, a name synonymous with wildlife conservation in Africa, through the provision of grants and materials.

In the late 1980s, the worsening economic situation throughout Africa resulted in falling enrolment and increased financial difficulties for Mweka. In response, WWF initiated a scholarship programme to aid both the students and the colleges.

More recently, WWF has provided Mweka with much-needed support for infrastructure by providing all-terrain vehicles and spares, along with field and photographic equipment.

WWF has also helped manage the Glaxo Endowment Fund since 1990. The importance of securing long-term funding for the College will continue to be a high priority in WWF's conservation efforts in Tanzania.
