About the authors: Elizabeth Kemf, Species Conservation Coordinator for WWF International, has worked on conservation of the Asian elephant since 1982 when she undertook an assignment for WWF to carry out elephant research in Burma.

Peter Jackson is a member of the IUCN Asian Elephant Specialist Group and was co-author of the IUCN Asian Elephant Action Plan.
