VISION 2000

As part of its vision for 2000 AD, WWF-India aims to forge close, functional links with other environmental NGOs and contribute to the solution of national and global environmental issues.

The Nature 2000 Campaign will develop a grassroots movement to mould public opinion and create environment awareness. The campaign will focus on tiger conservation as well as on issues affecting the livelihood of communities and their symbiotic relationship with tiger habitats.

The campaign will also lobby and influence the local administration against denotification, mining leases and aquaculture.

Proposed rural nature clubs will undertake activities such as regeneration, protection, fire control and regulated grazing. They will undertake these activities jointly with the park authorities and the forest department.

A national photographic documentation centre is proposed to be set up on the flora, fauna and ecosystems of the country which will serve as a resource base for documentation, education, publications, research and exhibitions.
