The Arctic Programme
serves as a focal point
for Arctic issues of
international concern. The
Programme is based in Oslo,
Norway, and works through
WWF projects in the eight
Arctic Countries. WWF
believes that close coop-
eration with governmental
institutions, indigenous
peoples and environmental
organisations is essential
in attempting to reach
our GOAL of:
A healthy Arctic environ-
ment, with unfragmented
natural systems and viable
wildlife populations, which
will allow for local needs
based on sustainable
resources use. The Arctic
should be recognised for
its global environmental
significance and its
diversity of cultures.
WWF strives to achieve this
goal by targeting issues of
primary importance and
relating projects to these
six objectives.
