Viable populations of all native Arctic species are imperative for the preservation of biological diversity in the Arctic. WWF would like to see no
new species endangered and the status of at least 5% of endangered species improved by the year 2015. Special attention is directed by WWF toward
endangered and threatened species such as all of the Great Whales, walruses and the Lesser White-fronted Goose. WWF believes that the Polar Bear
Treaty (currently the only legally binding conservation agreement relating to the Arctic) must be continued to ensure a healthy population of
polar bears for the future.
