Foxes
The 14 species of fox also belong to the Canidae family. Of these, the red fox
Vulpes vulpes) is the most widespread. Found throughout most of the northern
hemisphere, the red fox, a mediumsize canid with red coat and bushy tail, easily
adapts to different habitats, ranging from woodlands to arctic tundras and is
sometimes even found in suburban gardens. The red fox eats rodents, rabbits,
worms, fruit, and garbage. Though the red fox is heavily hunted and trapped,
populations have remained stable.
