The Swedish Sports
movement The sports movement is by far Sweden's largest and most vital popular movement. Close to 3 million Swedes, among them a vast majority of all teenagers are members of the more than 20 000 sports clubs organized in 66 specialised sport federations, all united in the Swedish Sports Confederation. It deals with youth sports, sport for all as well as elite sports. The Swedish Olympic Committee is the supreme authority for olympic affairs in Sweden. It's main responsibility is to prepare and carry through the Swedish participation in olympic games. In accordance with the Olympic Charter the Swedish Olympic Committee is also committed to propagate the olympic spirit in Sweden. The Swedish sports movement also has its own adult education organization - SISU. SISU trains leaders as well as active participants, it's main emphasis being on local study circles. "Svensk idrott" is the voice of this vast movement on the Internet! |
