Swedish Sports Confederation

The Swedish Sports Confederation is the umbrella organisation of the Swedish sports movement. It is led by the executive committee, consisting of 11 members elected by the biannual General Assembly, and chaired by Prof Dr Arne Ljunqvist.

The task of the Swedish Sports Confederation is to

Speak on behalf of the united sports movement in contacts with politicians, the government and other institutions/organisations
Coordinate the sports movement in fields like research and development
Provide service in areas where these cannot or don't want to build up their own competence
In certain areas act in place of the government, e g through distributing givernmental grants to sports

Sporting Sweden is divided into 22 regions. In every region there is a (DF) district sports federation (DF), that acts as the prolonged arm of the Swedish Sports Confederation, with the corresponding tasks, in the region.

The office of the Swedish Sports Confederation has approx 60 employees and is situated in the House of Sports in Farsta, south of Stockholm.
