You can set the color of type using either the Color modifier of the text tool or with the Color window. You can only use solid colors for type, not gradients. To apply a gradient to type, you must break it into its outlines. See Reshaping type.
To define type color:
1 | Select the characters you want to change as described in Selecting text. |
2 | If you selected type blocks with the arrow tool, click the text tool. |
3 | Do one of the following: |

Position the pointer over the color box and drag to highlight a color in the palette. |

Choose Window > Colors and select a color from the Solid tab. |
