Playing Network Games

Clicking the Options button on the main menu allows you to change many settings for the game. Below is a quick explination of each tab.

Player

Here you setup the name that others will see you as during network games, your tank type, and the highlight colors for your tank.

Beginners should start with medium tank types. Lighter tanks can turn faster, but have slower top speeds and tend to get pushed around a lot. Heavier tanks have high top speeds, but have slow acceleration and are hard to turn. When experienced, these tanks can be a better pick, but are harder to learn with.

Display

Here where you set the overall appearance of the game, from the screen size it plays in to the quality of its rendering. The higher the screen size or quality, the slower the game will be on older machines.

Switch Resolution tells the game to attempt to switch your monitor to a resolution closest to the game area. Frame Regulator sticks the game to 30 fps.

Graphics

This tab allows you to change some effects, like the number of possible dynamic light sources in a scene (fewer to be faster), if you want the flickering light effect, a gamma adjustment, and you can effect the transparency of glass and liquid substances.

Optimizations

These settings allow you to turn more costly effects on and off to gain more speed on a slower machine.

VRAM Reduction will attempt to reduce all the textures to try to fit the game on an acceleration card with a small amount of memory.

Sound

Honestly, I think you can figure this one out on your own ...

Control

Here you can set how you want to control your tank. See the Controls section for more information.

Network

Here you can name your computer for hosting games. Show Player Names lets you see the other players names above their tanks while you play. Speed allows you to manually adjust the frequency of network traffic (depending on your connection) to make for better game play experience.
