About downloading files

When you download a file to your computer, Microsoft Internet Explorer tracks the progress of the download. You can continue browsing Web pages while you download a file, and you can download multiple files at the same time.

In the Download Manager, you can view a list of the files you’ve downloaded. For each file, this list includes download time and status, and the amount of information transferred. The Download Complete icon Download Complete icon appears next to files that have been downloaded successfully. The Alert icon Alert icon appears next to files that couldn’t be downloaded because an error occurred. To get more information about a downloaded file, double-click the file.

You can set up multiple connections so Internet Explorer can download multiple Web pages and their linked files, such as picture files, at the same time. By default, the maximum number of connections is four, but you can choose up to eight connections.
