As you view Web pages, you’re likely to find information that you’d like to save for future reference or share with other people, especially those who don’t have access to the Web or a computer. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can save a
Web page or any part of a Web page — such as a picture, link, or text — to your computer. You can also copy text, links, and pictures from a Web page to another document.
In Internet Explorer, you can save a Web page in these formats:
- Web Archive When you save a Web page as a Web archive, you can save the pages and files it links to as a single file. That way, when you open the
Web archive in Internet Explorer, you can see the Web page as it appears on the Web — even when you’re not connected to the Internet. And because the Web pages are saved in a single file, you can easily move the
Web archive to another computer.
- HTML Source When you save a Web page as an HTML Source document, Internet Explorer saves only the page’s HTML code in a text-only file. When you open the file in Internet Explorer, you can see the formatted text, but you can not see any pictures or movies, or hear any sounds the Web page contains.
- Plain Text When you save a Web page as a Plain Text document, Internet Explorer saves the page’s text in a text-only file.
If you want to save a Web page by printing it, you can save paper — and avoid surprises — by previewing the printed version of the page before you print it. You can also fine-tune your printing options to make sure it prints the way you want.
