Frequently-Asked Questions and Answers
How can I see the results of menu sorting with only the demo? I don't
want to register until I see that the program works.
The demo does not permanently save the reordered menu. However, you can see the results by starting up Photoshop (or other graphics application) before quitting the Filter Organizer application. You will be able to see the reordered menu, which should appear exactly as it does in the Filter Organizer application. If you're satisfied, quit from Photoshop, quit from Filter Organizer, and register! If not, send us a bug report to twall@kagi.com
The program says "Not enough memory" but I've given it all the memory I
have!
Some people have lots of plugins. No, I mean lots. It takes memory to sort and edit them, and if you've really got a lot, you may not have enough memory to do it all at once. No problem. Just separate the plugins into several smaller sets, in sub-folders of your main plugins folder. Then run Filter Organizer on each of these sub-folders one at a time, so that the application has less to sort all at once. We're working on handling extremely large numbers of plugins in less memory, so please be patient until we get it right.
I try to add a new category, but it doesn't work and the message "That name
won't be visible in the current list" appears.
Photoshop has a hard limit to the number of categories it will display (23 for PS3, and 26 for PS5, including its built-in and preferred categories). Any categories which would appear beyond that final category have their contents dumped into the "Other" category. In this case, you'll need to rename, delete, or combine categories until you have fewer than the maximum displayed, and then add your new category.
I renamed a category and it disappeared! Where did it go?
For the same reason stated above (Photoshop's limited number of categories), the new name probably gets sorted after the last category visible. If you look closely, there is probably now a category visible that wasn't visible before. Again, in order to make the recently renamed category visible, you'll need to remove or combine the categories that appear higher in the list.
