This error occurs when the modem you use has a speed under 56k. These modems cannot handle the special beep of our 56k modems.

Add several commas behind the dialup number to fix this problem. If this does not solve your problem, try adding a few extra commas.

Go to My computer. |

|
Go to Dial-Up Networking. |
|
|
Click on the World Online icon with your right mouse button and select Properties from the menu. |

|
In the box under Telephone number, add two commas behind the dialup number (add additional commas, if you do not experience any change). |

Click on OK. |
Or, if you have entered several commas behind the dialup number previously, but the error keeps occurring, contact your modem supplier.
