Reinstalling your modem

1.     Installation, in case you have modem drivers at your disposal

  • Double-click on My computer.

  • Here, a modem screen will be opened, displaying all installed modems. If a different screen is displayed, no modem has been installed, yet. If this is the case, continue with the following step. If a modem is installed and you are convinced a different modem must be installed, click the current modem and click Remove. You are now ready to install the modem. You can do this by clicking Add

  • Windows will ask you first whether you want it to look for your modem, or you   already have the necessary information (drivers and com port).
  • For this installation procedure we presume you have these information at your disposal and therefore will select the option Do not detect my modem I will select it from a list.
  • Continue by clicking on the button Next.
  • In the screen that will appear, click on Have Disk.

  • Please enter the location of the necessary ISDN software here. In case of a floppy disc select A:\. If the ISDN software is stored on CD-ROM, you will probably have to select D:\. If the ISDN software can not be found, you can try to locate it yourself, by clicking on the button Browse. Continue by clicking OK.

  • If everything goes according to plan, you will see a screen with the modem drivers found on your disc or CD-ROM. Select the modem type and click Next.

  • Select the COM Port on which the modem is installed and click Next.

  • The installation of your modem has now been installed. You can now click Finish. Continue by closing all screens until you return to your desktop. Now you must tell your pc to use the correct modem to connect to World Online.

  • Double-click on Dial-Up Networking

  • Here you will find an icon that refers to the connection to World Online.
  • Click with your right mouse button on the World Online icon and select Properties from the menu.

  • In the Properties screen, you will find a box called Connect using. By clicking on the arrow on the right you can select the modem you have just installed and continue by clicking OK. You can close all windows now, the installation is completed.

2.     Installation, in case you do not have modem drivers at your disposal (option 1)

If a modem is installed and you are convinced a different modem must be installed, click the current modem and click Remove. You are now ready to install the modem. You can do this by clicking Add.

  • Windows will ask you first whether you want it to look for your modem, or you already have the necessary information (drivers and com port). In this installation procedure we will let Windows search for the modem, therefore you can click Next to continue. Windows will now try to detect your modem.

  • The modem has been found. Click Next to install the detected modem. If no modem is detected you can choose for installation of a Standard Modem. For additional information on how to install a standard modem you can click here.

  • The modem installation is complete. You can now click Finish. Continue by closing all screens until you return to your desktop. Now you must tell your pc to use the correct modem to connect to World Online.

3.     Installation, in case you do not have modem drivers at your disposal (option 2)

  1. In windows you can several so-called Standard Modems, up to a certain speed (In Windows 95 with a maximum of 28.800 and in Windows 98 up to 56k V.90). Select a modem with the speed that corresponds best with the real speed of the modem If you have no idea what the speed of your modem is, check the modem to see if you can find the speed there. The following modem speeds can occur:

    1. 14k4 or 14.400

    2. 28k4 or 28.800

    3. 33k6 or 33.600

    4. 56k56 or 56.000

    5. 56k Flex

    6. 56k X2

    7. 56K V.90

    Once you have selected the modem of your choice, click Next.
