Correction with a user-defined reference color

Let's assume that we have an image A. The grass color on this photo is far from being realistic and we would like to replace it with another one. To do so, we need to have at hand an image containing a realistic grass color. It's the image B. Let's call it the source image. If no such image is available, the required color can be taken out of the collection .

  1. Open both images in the Curve Pilot.
  2. In the source image highlight the area, which contains the required grass color.
  3. Click "Extract color" button on the left-hand bar. The highlighted area will appear in the reference color's container located under "Extract color" button.
  4. In to-be-corrected image highlight the area containing the color to be changed.
  5. Click "Start" button. Within a short time interval, depending on the processed file's size, the corrected image will be opened in a new window.

To correct the image, you can adjust brightness of the Reference Color in addition to extracting colors. For this purpose, select an appropriate radio-button at the bottom of the left toolbar. "C" - color only, "C+B" - color and brightness, "B" - brightness only. In the example on this page, we extracted only color, but the brightness hasn't changed.

As several files might be opened in the program simultaneously, it should be taken into account that any operation will be made over the image located in the currently active window.
