WebTunnel Description and Overview:

Primedius Web Tunnel is a subscription based service. It allows you to connect your computer through our secure proxy servers, and thus enabling you to surf securely and anonymously, without being tracked by your government, ISP, company, etc.

There are various types of subscriptions available to suit a wide range of users. And we encourage you to look through our various packages at www.primedius.com and find the one best suited for you.

Here are just a few scenarios where Primedius might be used:

1. Hide IP address of user's computer. All web traffic goes through the secure proxy servers at Primedius, and so the websites that a user visits 'sees' only the IP address of the Primedius servers and not the user's IP. (*NOTE: You must disable client side scripting and Java applets in your browser to prevent some websites from running client side utilities to determine your IP address. Also keep in mind that some legitimate websites require your IP address to be available for them to offer you their services.)

2.  Reach websites that are blocked by your ISP, government, company. Please understand that you are ultimately responsible, and accountable for all your online activity in censored environments and assume all risks associated with it. If you are trying to reach a website say www.secretsurfer.org and access to it is blocked, then you can reach this website by going through the Primedius proxy servers.

3. In this case, you might be blocked from visiting certain websites as well be blocked from reaching the Primedius servers themselves. The Primedius relay network comes to the rescue, and allows you to reach the Primedius servers through volunteer Primedius Relays that are present throughout the internet.

As can be seen, once you start using Primedius, it will be very hard for access to any website to be blocked. Our relay network is continuously growing, and if you would like to participate, or refer someone to the Relay/Peer program, and help the web community, then please visit http://www.primedius.com/safeList.htm for more details.

Additional Available Services:

In addition, since all traffic between your computer and Primedius is strongly encrypted using industry standard SSL technology, it is almost impossible for anyone to track your surfing activity.

In combination with other Primedius products that integrate into Web Tunnel, like ZeroView and ZeroHistory, you can even erase (completely, and unrecoverable) all internet activity from your computer after you finish surfing. This prevents someone from inspecting your computer for past activity when you are not around.

The Ad-blocking service effectively blocks almost all advertisements from being displayed in your web browser. This not only makes your browsing more pleasant, it all saves some of your bandwidth from being used to download the ads in the first place.

Also, the integrated pop-up blocker kills almost all annoying pop-ups before being displayed.

Other services included are cookie blocking, URL referrer blocking, secure virus protected and spam-free email, secure online storage.

More information about these, and other Primedius services, are available in the installed Help file (Start-->Programs-->Primedius-->Help) or at http://www.primedius.com

Activating your new Account:

This is how the Primedius registration and activation process works. This guide assumes that you have downloaded and installed Primedius WebTunnel on your computer.

FREE TRIAL USERS: If you are a free trial user, the application will try to automatically create a free trial account for you on our servers. This process requires a VALID EMAIL ADDRESS. You will not be able to Primedius at all if you do not send us a valid email address. We have very strong anti-spam policies in place, and you can rest assured that your email address will not be transferred over to any other company, or abused in anyway, and will be used strictly for Primedius account and membership related activity.

1. Submit a valid email address.

2. Check your email account for the welcome email that has your account activation code and other important usage instructions.

[IMPORTANT: Please ensure that your email account does not treat the activation email (sent from support@primedius.com) as spam or junk mail. You are responsible for making sure that such filtering does not occur. Also note, since this is an automated process, we cannot reply to confirm white-list email services like ChoiceMail, etc. So please add support@primedius.com as a valid email address in your address book.]

3. Follow the instructions in the activation email on how to activate your account. Typically, it involves simply clicking on the link we send you.

IMPORTANT: For some free trial users, the automatic account creation fails on some Operating Systems. In such cases, please launch WebTunnel, and click the button at the bottom of the LOGIN screen that says "NEW USERS - CLICK HERE FOR A NEW ACCOUNT". This will bring up a page that has the registration for the free trial. You can choose a username and password over here to use for your free trial. If for some reason you cannot get to the free trial registration, here is a direct link to that page. https://www.primedius.com/primedius/registration/registration.jsp?promocode=freesurfing

PAID USERS: If you are a full paid subscriber of Primedius, you will have a username and password assigned to your account. As above, please check your email for the activation code, and activate your account before using it.

To start using Primedius you need to have completed the following:

1. Downloaded and installed the Primedius WebTunnel Application.

2. If you are a paid user, you must have a valid username and password to access the service. If you are a free trial user, your account may have been auto-registered when you provided your email address. In case the auto-register did not work, you need a username and password to access the service. (Follow the instructions in the previous section [Activating your new account], for obtaining a username and password for the free trial.)

3. You account has been activated. Follow the instructions in your welcome email to activate your account.

Most free trial users are automatically logged in. If you see a screen prompting you for your username and password you can enter it and click Login. Watch the Primedius Security Monitor to verify that your Login was successful.

You will also be able to see the Primedius icon (the capital P) in your System tray that looks like this:

You can also verify that traffic is flowing through Primedius by looking at the Primedius Security Monitor.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Primedius runs on port 8999, and needs full access to the internet.

You MUST make sure that other software like firewalls, ad-blockers, pop-blockers are not interfering with Primedius reaching the internet. Consult the Primedius Help file, or the Primedius Tech Support pages for help on configuration.

Also, if you normally use a proxy server to connect to the internet, then the address and port of the proxy server must be specified in the Primedius settings.

If you suspect of being blocked from accessing the Primedius servers, get the latest unblock list (list is used to locate and to connect through a relay server) by sending a blank email to unblock@primedius.com with the word UNBLOCK in the SUBJECT header.
Save this file (pList.dat) to your Primedius installation folder
(typically in c:\Program Files\Primedius)

This file contains the list of active relays that you can connect through, to reach the Primedius servers and the internet. This list is updated every half an hour, so if you find that you cannot connect using your  current list, please retrieve and use the latest list.
