File Operations
Copying, Moving and Linking Files
Drag-N-Drop
Drag and drop is as simple as selecting the files you wish to copy, move or link thendragging to your desired location. Items can be dragged and dropped within BeCommander, from BeCommander to any other application that supports files and drag and drop (this includes Tracker and the Desktop) or from any application to BeCommander.
*currently BeCommander only supports copying when performing Drag-N-Drop within BeCommander
*All file operations can be paused or canceled.
Via the Keyboard
File operations via the keyboard by browsing in one pane to your source files. Then select the files you wish to copy. Next to another pane. Browse in the second pane until you reach the destination for your files. Finaly back to the pane with your source files and choose the appropriate key for the type of file operation you wish to perform.
- [F5] - COPY
- [F6] - MOVE
- [F9] - CREATE LINK
Delete
- Select the Delete File(s) menu option in the file menu
- Press [DEL]
- Press [COMMAND]+T
- Right-click your mouse on the file then choose Delete File(s)
Rename
- Select the Rename menu option in the file menu
- Press [SHIFT]+[F6]
- Right-click your mouse on the file then choose Rename
Get File Information
- Select the Get Info menu option in the file menu
- Press [COMMAND]+I
- Right-click your mouse on the file then choose Get Info
Create a New Folder
- Select the New Folder menu option in the file menu
- Press [COMMAND]+N
Open
- Select the Open menu option in the file menu
- Press [COMMAND]+O
- Right-click your mouse on the file then choose Open
Identify
- Select the Identify menu option in the file menu
- Press [COMMAND]+Y
- Right-click your mouse on the file then choose Identify
