An AIFF file with altered pitch or length can be generated from the active document by choosing Alter Pitch/Length from the File menu.
Changing Pitch: Pitch can be changed by specifying a floating-point value in the range of 0.1 to 10. A setting of 1.0 will not change the pitch of the resulting file. Setting the pitch to 0.5 or 2.0 will lower or raise the resulting pitch by one octave, respectively.
Changing Length: The length of an audio file can be altered by specifying a floating point value in the range of 0.5 to 2.0. As with the pitch setting, a value of 1.0 will not change the length of the resulting file.
Both the Pitch and Length settings are affected by the quality setting. The quality setting refers to the quality (lack of distortion) in the output. When saving the file, you will probably want to use a high quality setting. On the other hand, when you are just trying to get the pitch or length settings just right, you can use a lower quality setting to preview the changes in real-time.
Note that if quality is high and you are previewing the song, audible gaps in the sound might be produced (which implies that the alteration cannot take place in real-time).
Also note that only the active track is altered, and its fader information is not used during the conversion.
