Jasmine supports the standard Cut, Copy, Paste and Multi-Level Undo/Redo edit functions. All Edit operations are available from the Edit Menu. These operations are nearly instantaneous because the actual sound is not moved on the recording medium (the hard disk) during edit operations. Instead, Jasmine changes pointers to the actual sound.

To make a selection, cue to the beginning of the selected sound using one or more of the Jasmine navigation functions. Choose Selection Start from the Edit Menu. Cue to the end of the sound to be selected then choose Selection End from the Edit Menu. The selection will be highlighted in the tape display. To cancel a selection choose Selection Cancel. When a selection is canceled the tape and timeline will no longer be highlighted.

Press the delete key or choose Clear from the Edit Menu to clear the selection from the front tape window. If you are in multitrack, the delete will apply to all open tape windows.

To remove a selection from the front tape window and put it on the clipboard, choose Cut from the Edit Menu.

To make a copy of the selection and put it on the clipboard, make a selection then choose Copy from the Edit Menu.

To paste the contents of the clipboard into the front tape window, cue the tape to the position where you would like to insert the sound that is on the clipboard then choose Paste from the Edit Menu.

Edit operations can be undone by choosing Undo from the Edit Menu. The tape is restored to the condition that existed before the last edit operation.

The Insert Silence item of the Edit Menu prompts you to enter a duration specified in time colon format of silence that will be inserted at the cue point. Insert Silence cannot be undone but can be deleted since after the operation it is highlighted.

Align Track allows you to align the cue point of the front tape window to the cue point of the tape window just behind it by inserting silence in one of the two tracks. The silence insertion point is the start of the front tape window selection.
