The primary feature of Jasmine is the tape display in the center of the tape window. It shows eight seconds of sound volume, from four seconds before to four seconds after the point where playback will begin, the cue time. During tape playback, the tape moves across the center of the display as if it was analog tape moving across a tape head.

Beginning with version 1.1.5, Jasmine's Live Tape Display can show the effect of Fader (or fader memory) on the the track's sound. To change the track display see Tape Display Mode.

Just below the tape display is the timeline. Click it to instantly change the cue time. You can also drag its slider to the desired cue point.

To open an existing Jasmine File, choose the Open Item from the File Menu. You can also double click a Jasmine file icon from the finder desktop (the files are normally stored in the ~Sound folder). Choose Record from the Record Menu to make a new recording. To save changes made to an Edit file, choose Save from the File Menu.

Use the Save, Save As and Mixdown items in the File Menu to store your editing/mixing work. See Saving.

Many functions require that you make a selection. The selection is highlighted in the tape display and timeline.

The three tape window parameters are shown from left to right just below the tape display. Starting on the left, they are selection duration, the cue time and the tape duration. All three parameters are expressed in the time colon format [hours]:[minutes]:[seconds].[100'ths of a second].

Many functions have a keyboard shortcut. To see how they are mapped, choose Keyboard Shortcuts from the Guide Menu.

Multi-track status is indicated by the check box with the same name near the bottom of the tape window. When checked, Jasmine will play all tape windows as tracks from the cue point of the front tape window.
