The Port of Toronto (tel: (416) 863 2000; web site: www.torontoport.com ), located in the city centre, provides transportation, distribution, storage and container services to businesses in the City of Toronto and surrounding region. It has links to the Province of Ontario, upstate New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota via the Great Lakes and various inland waterways. Toronto is also an international shipping hub, linked with Eastern Canada and the Atlantic Ocean via the Great Lakes St Lawrence Seaway. The port offers few facilities as it is primarily used for commercial storage and transportation.

Ferry services:
The city is linked with the Toronto Islands (tel: (416) 392 8193) by a publicly operated ferry with a flat rate ticket costing C$5. There is also a small service to the towns of Niagara and St Catherines operated by Seaflight 2000 (tel: (416) 504 8825) and there are plans to link Toronto to Rochester, New York, via fast ferry by the end of 2001.

Transport to the city:
The Port of Toronto is located in the heart of the city centre of Toronto, near Union Station (rail, subway). Numerous taxi and tram services are available.
