Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport is ranked as the 12th busiest airport in the country, with daily services to some 23 international destinations as well as 175 US cities. The Lindbergh Terminal handles most scheduled flights, while the nearby Humphrey Terminal primarily handles charter flights. The airport is located south of the Twin Cities on SR-5. Downtown St Paul, 13.6km (8.5 miles) away, is a 15-minute drive, while downtown Minneapolis, 19.3 km (12 miles) north, is a 20-minute drive.

Major airlines:
Northwest Airlines (tel: (800) 225 2525) is based in the Twin Cities; it is allied with the Netherlands' KLM airline. The domestic carrier Sun Country Airlines (tel: (800) 359 6786) also has its headquarters here. Other major carriers include America West, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, TWA, United Airlines, US Air and Vanguard.

From London is 8 hours; from New York is 3 hours; from Los Angeles is 4 hours; from Toronto is 3 hours and from Sydney is 20 hours.
Airport facilities:
Travelers Assistance booths (tel: (612) 726 5500), open daily 0800-2000, are located by the concourse entrances and on the baggage claim level. Volunteers provide information on airport services, tourist attractions, accommodation, transport and paging and translation services. Other airport facilities include ATMs, barber and stylist services, games arcades, computer phone hook-up and data port, duty-free shop, foreign currency exchange, information booths, lockers, lost and found, nursery, postal service, luggage repair and storage, along with numerous restaurants and shops.
Business facilities:
There is an airport business centre (tel: (612) 726 5184) located opposite the Northwest Airlines ticketing counter, which is open Sunday to Friday 0530-2100 and Saturday 0530-1800. Phones, fax, photocopiers, computer services, money transfers, postage machines and other services are available. TouchNet kiosks with self-service e-mail, fax, photocopy, internet and other services are located throughout the Lindbergh Terminal.
Arrival/departure tax:
Taxes ranging from about US$22 for domestic flights up to US$78 for long-haul flights (depending on the destination) are incorporated in the price of the ticket.
Transport to the city:
Information on transport to hotels, often complimentary, is available on the baggage claim level of the airport. The Travelers Assistance booths also provide information on transport options. Airport Express (tel: (612) 827 7777) provides inexpensive van shuttle service between the airport and downtown hotels. One-way fares start at US$9 (for St Paul) and US$11 (for Minneapolis); round-trip fares start at US$14 and US$18 respectively. MTC buses (tel: (612) 349 7000) run from the airport to both downtown areas. Bus 7 runs to Washington Avenue in Minneapolis, while Bus 4 runs to Robert Street in St Paul about every 20 minutes during the day. Fares range from US$1 to US$2 (for the rush-hour express bus). Taxi fares to downtown St Paul are around US$15, while downtown Minneapolis costs US$20-25
