Walking Tours
Two-hour guided walks in English (tel: (32) 971 440) to various parts of the old city depart from Wonderful Copenhagen Tourist Information on Bernstorffsgade Monday to Saturday at 1030 (1 May to 30 September) and cost Dkk50. An evening tour of medieval Copenhagen with the nightwatchman leaves Gråbrødre Torv (Greyfriars' Square) Thursday and Saturday at 2100.

Weekend tours of Christiania (tel: (32) 579 670) must be booked at least one day in advance for a minimum of six people. Departing at 1500, the tour is guided by a resident of the commune, lasts about two hours and costs Dkk25.

Bus Tours
Copenhagen Excursions (tel: (32) 540 606; website: www.copenhagen-excursions.dk) organises a number of tours around the city. One-hour tours cost Dkk100 and start at Rådhuspladsen from 0930 to 1700.

Boat Tours
Boat tours through the harbour and canal networks around Christianshavn and Slotsholmen explain the importance of water in the life and history of the city. The one-hour Waterbus tour (tel: (33) 133 105) departs every half hour 1000-1700 from Gammel Strand or Nyhavn between April and October and costs Dkk45.

Other Tours
Jazz Guides, Olufsvej 6A (tel: (35) 266 515; e-mail: info@jazzguides.dk; website: www.jazzguides.dk), introduces visitors to one of the jazz capitals of Europe. The evening tour starts with a group dinner, followed by four or five different jazz venues and costs Dkk2500.
