Walking Tours

A unique service offered by the City of Melbourne is the Melbourne Greeter Service (tel: (03) 96 58 99 55; e-mail: greeter@melbourne.vic.gov.au), where visitors are guided around for between two and four hours by local volunteers. Tours are offered in a number of languages. Heritage Walking Tours are self-guided tours detailed in a series of maps available from the Victoria Visitor Information Centre and tourist information booths throughout the city.

Bus Tours

AAT King's (tel: (03) 96 63 33 77; fax: (03) 96 63 31 33), Gray Line (tel: (03) 96 63 44 55; fax: (03) 96 63 22 25) and Australian Pacific Tours (tel: (03) 96 63 16 11; fax (03) 96 63 16 99) operate daily tours of the city's highlights and offer free hotel pick-ups.
A double-decker hop-on hop-off City Explorer Bus (tel: (03) 95 63 97 88) departs hourly from 1000 outside the Town Hall with 18 stop-off points and commentary.

Boat Tours

A relaxing way to see the city is to take a Melbourne river cruise along the Yarra River. Melbourne River Cruises (tel: (03) 96 14 12 15) depart every half hour daily from Princes Walk. Tickets are available at the Blue Melbourne River Cruises Kiosk on Princes Bridge (opposite Flinders Street station).
