Tours of the City Walking Tours Lyons' Tourist Office offers a variety of walking tours in several languages (tel: (04) 72 77 72 33; e-mail visits@lyon-france.com). There are guided tours, such as the two-hour 'Maison des Canuts and the traboules of Croix-Rousse Hill' (cost: FFr50), and the 'Lyons Renaissance district' tour, which takes in the Renaissance district of Lyons (cost: FFr50). The Tourist Office also offers an audio-guided tour of Lyons, complete with an itinerary map and personal stereos for hire in five languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Italian) for FFr40. Self-guided tours are also available with the excellent guidebook World Heritage Excursions (FFr35). These include 'Presqu'île North' and 'Presqu'île South'. Bus Tours Philibert Lyon Vision (tel: (04) 78 98 56 98; e-mail: ) run a number of sightseeing tours in air- conditioned coaches. A 90-minute tour of the city (cost: FFr100) passes through Old Lyons, Fourvière Hill, Croix-Rousse and many other sites and monuments. The coach leaves Perrache station at 0900, 1030, 1330, 1530 and 1730. Boat Tours Naviginter (tel: (04) 78 42 96 81; fax: (04) 78 42 11 09) offers various river cruises, including the one-hour tour up the Sâone River (cost: FFr42). The tour starts and finishes at quai des Célestins. |
