Tours of the City

Walking Tours
The city layout favours non-pedestrian tours, as does the summer heat. However, specific institutions have their indoor walking tours as well as occasional outdoor ones, such as with the Wilson Block Historical District (see the Key Attractions section).

Bus Tours
A bus tour is an excellent means of getting to understand how the city fits together without battling the traffic and one-way systems. Gray Line Tours/Coach USA (tel: (972) 263 0294 or (800) 256 4273, toll free in the USA and Canada; website: www.grayline.com) offers a variety of air-conditioned bus tours in and around the city with professional driver-guides. Their three-hour 'Dallas Landmarks Tour' costs US$24. Eagle Tours Inc / Longhorn Tours (tel: (972) 721 0545) offers a similar service.

Other Tours
The JFK Presidential Limo Tour is exactly as its name suggests, the chance to be JFK himself (or his wife Jackie), whether out of research interest, novelty, hero worship or a means of gaining a unique and intimate acquaintanceship with Dallas. The limo used in the tour is an exact replica of the original, therefore only seats about 5 people. The tour leaves from the Conspiracy Museum (tel: (214) 741 3040), then takes the exact cavalcade route, complete with gunshots and audio effects.
