Sightseeing Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge serve as the three main navigation points for tourists. The bridge links the Lesser Town and the Castle above with the Old and New Towns. The central tourist area comprises five sections: Hrad?any (the Castle precinct), with Malá Strana (Little Town) at its foot; across the Charles Bridge lie Staré M?sto (Old Town), with Josefov (the Jewish Quarter) to the north and to the south Nové M?sto (New Town). The 'Royal Road' - past route of major processions - is the main tourist route across Prague beginning at the Powder Gate in Nám?stí Republicky, and continuing along Celetná to the Old Town Square. From there passes the Astronomical Clock and winds along Karlova to the Charles Bridge. Crossing the bridge it follows Mostecká through Malá Strana to the Baroque square at Malostranské nám?stí. Streets off the square lead to the long climb of stairs to the Castle. Nám?stí republicky, with its magnificent Municipal House, Na p?íkop? leads to Wenceslas Square, the hub of shopping and nightlife. Museums and galleries are scattered throughout the city, and even the suburbs Further afield to the south lies Vy?ehrad (district 4), the site of the original settlement; less well frequented by tourists, the area has much to offer and provides a respite from the bustle of the centre.
