Tours of the City Walking Tours The tourist information office in Via Marconi runs a walking tour every Monday starting at 1000, which takes in the city centre and includes entrance to the Scala Museum (cost: L25,000). Private guided tours can be booked from the ATP Information Office in Piazza Marconi 1 (tel: (02) 72 52 43 00). Bus Tours The only way visitors can see Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, without having advance reservations, is to take the APT bus tour. Advance reservations for the bus tour is not possible; visitors should simply turn up at the tourist information office (Via Marconi 1, off Piazza del Duomo) beforehand and buy tickets (L60,000) prior to departure (daily 0930). The tour lasts three hours and includes the Cathedral, Sforza Castle and entrances to the Last Supper and the Scala Museum. Tram Tours Reproductions of sepia photographs showing Milan's trams are common in Milan's bars and restaurants. One of the more charming ways to get to know the centre is by taking the restored 1920s tram run by ATM (tel: (02) 72 00 25 84; fax: (02) 72 00 25 90). The tram departs from Piazza Castello on a circuit that takes just under two hours. It is an ideal form of transport for getting to the Cathedral, the Last Supper, the Piazza della Scala and the Brera; but it does not include entrance to any attraction. Hop-on hop-off (for up to two hours) tickets cost L30,000 and last all day, although there are only four trams a day (at 0900, 1100, 1300 and 1500). |
