Water Israel's main ports for international passengers are Haifa in the north, about 160km (99 miles) from Jerusalem, and Ashdod, about 70km (43 miles) to the west of Jerusalem. The port at Haifa is located near the railway station, and has a passenger terminal with comprehensive facilities. Ashdod, on Israel's Mediterranean coast, has one of the few ports in the world built on the open sea, and it too has an excellent passenger terminal with good facilities. Ferry services: Several shipping lines, including the Stability line and Sol line offer regular departures from Italy, Greece and Cyprus, docking at Israel's main ports of Haifa and Ashdod. Schedules can be checked with on Ports and Railways Authority (web site: www.israports.org.il). Transport to the city: Regular Egged bus services run from both Haifa and Ashdod to Jerusalem. |
