Water Dublin has two main ports with a series of harbours. Dublin Ferry Port (tel: (01) 855 0888) is on Alexandra Road in the northeast and Ferry Terminal 5 is on Pigeon House Road in the north. Dún Laoghaire Harbour is at 15 Westmoreland Street in the south. Ferry services: Irish Ferries (tel: (01) 638 3333, (08705) 171 717 (Republic of Ireland Only); 661 0715 (24-hour information line); e-mail: info@irishferries.ie; website: www.irishferries.ie) operates twice-daily car and foot ferry services to Dublin Port (Alexandra Road) from Holyhead. Stena Line (tel: (01) 204 7777; website: www.stenaline.com) also operates a twice-daily car ferry service from Holyhead to Dublin Ferry Port and a car and foot ferry service from Holyhead to Dún Laoghaire Harbour four times daily. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (tel: (08705) 523 523 (United Kingdom); (1800) 551 743 (Republic of Ireland); website: www.steam-packet.com) runs twice-daily car and foot ferries from Liverpool to Ferry Terminal 5; and from the Isle of Man in summer. Transport to the city: Buses depart from Dublin Ferry Port daily 0730-1930 (travel time - ten minutes). There is a DART train daily 0600-2330 every 10-15 minutes from Dún Laoghaire Harbour (travel time - 30 minutes). Buses 7, 7A and 46A run to the city centre every 10-15 minutes (less frequent departures on a Sunday) between 0700-2300. Taxis run from both ports but are hard to find after busy sailings. |
