Tours of the City Walking Tours Chosen Tours (tel: (1) 355 2202) provides a four-hour guided tour from Sunday to Friday of Jewish Budapest. Tours run from 1000 and include a hotel pick-up service. Booking is advisable. IA Tours (tel: 3021 18861 (mobile); e-mail: imad@matavnet.hu) offers a selection of daily walking tours, for which reservations are not usually necessary. Opera Tours (tel: (1) 331 2550) provides a 45-minute tour of the grand Opera House, built between 1873 and 1884 by Miklós Ybl, daily at 1500 (cost: Ft900). Bus Tours Budatours (tel: (1) 353 0558; fax: (1) 374 7077) is one of many bus tour operators. Departures are from Casino Gresham, V. Roosevelt Square, at 1030 and 1330 in winter, as well as at 1530 May to October, and every half hour 1030-1830 July and August. The tour includes a quick stop at Heroes' Square and the Citadella and costs Ft4800. Boat Tours Ibusz (tel: (1) 317 7767; fax: (1) 317 9746) runs tours along the River Danube, past Parliament, the Academy of Sciences and around Margaret Island. The 90-minute trip costs Ft5900 and includes lunch on the Danube. Boats depart at 1230 Thursday to Sunday from June to September. The company also provides an evening tour (2000-2200) of the illuminated capital for Ft10,900.
