Walking Tours

Chandni Chowk:
Starting at the Jain Temple at the eastern end of Chandni Chowk, by the Red Fort, this walk weaves through the alleyways and takes in the area's best temples and most colourful markets.

Old Delhi:
It takes about an hour and a half to tour the main mosques and mansions of Old Delhi, covering the stretch from Jama Masjid to Ajmeri Gate.

Bus Tours

Delhi Tourism Development Corporation
(tel: (011) 331 4229) runs a number of sightseeing tours in non-air-conditioned coaches covering New and Old Delhi. The New Delhi tour departs daily at 0845 and 1330 and includes Jantar Mantar, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Birla Mandir, Qutb Minar, the Lotus Temple and Safdarjung Tomb. Afternoon tours of Old Delhi depart at 1345 and 1715 stopping at Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat and Humayun's Tomb. Prices are Rs35 for a single tour or Rs60 for a tour combining New Delhi and Old Delhi. The four-hour Delhi by Evening Tour includes Birla Mandir, the sound and light show at Red Fort and a drive past the Parliament House, India Gate and the Old Fort.
