Amtrak (tel: (800) 872 7245; web site: www.amtrak.com) operates intercity rail services in Detroit out of Detroit Amtrak Station, 11 Baltimore Avenue West, located in the northern end of the city's downtown. Facilities include telephones, toilets and car hire (Hertz).

Rail services:
Detroit is directly connected with Chicago and Cleveland. Journey time to Chicago is seven hours. Other cities, such as Washington, New York and Los Angeles, are accessible via Chicago and Cleveland, although the considerable journey time limits the practicality of such a journey.

Transport to the city:
The city can be accessed by bus and taxi.
