Tours of the City Walking Tours The Dublin Tourism Office has published a booklet to accompany the sign-posted Old City, Georgian and Cultural heritage trails around Dublin. They can also provide the Ulysses Map of Dublin, for those who wish to walk in Leopold Bloom's shoes. Discover Dublin Tours, 20 Stephen Street Lower (tel: (01) 478 0193), organises a two-and-a-half-hour musical pub-crawl in the Temple Bar area for Ir£6. Tickets are available on the night and also from the Dublin Tourism Centre on Suffolk Street. Departure is at 1930 from upstairs in Oliver St John Gogarty's (corner of Fleet Street and Anglesea Street). Jameson Literary Pub Crawl (tel: (01) 670 5602) features poetry recitals and singing as well as visiting Dublin's famed pubs that have literary connections; tours cost Ir£6.50 (concessions available) and begin at 1930 upstairs at the Duke Pub, Duke Street, with tickets on sale from 1900. Audio Tours Ireland, 7-9 Aston Quay (tel: (01) 670 5266), operates self-guided audio tours that take around 2 hours; a map, personal cassette player and an audio cassette are included in the Ir£6 fee. Bus Tours Dublin Bus, 59 O'Connell Street Upper (tel: (01) 873 4222), organises the three-hour Grand Dublin Tour for Ir£10, departing at 1015 and 1415 from outside the office and covering all the major sights. Bike Tours From Apr-Oct Dublin Bike Tours (tel: (01) 679 0899; fax: (01) 679 6504; e-mail: dublinbiketours@connect.ie; website: www.dublinbiketours.com), runs three-hour tours of the city for Ir£15, departing Mon-Fri at 1400 and Sat-Sun at 1000 and 1400. Tours leave from outside Christ Church. Advance booking is recommended. Horse and Cart Tours Guided tours by horse and cart can be picked-up at St. Stephen's Green during the summer months. The duration and price should be negotiated with the driver before setting off. |
