Calgary is poorly served with regards to rail. The only passenger train to operate within the city is the Rocky Mountaineer (tel: (403) 294 9298), a scenic train tour that runs between Calgary and Vancouver in the summer months out of the Palliser Hotel, 133 9th Avenue.
Visitors wishing to use rail service can find Via Rail, the national rail provider, operating services out of Edmonton (tel: (780) 448 2575), 299km (186 miles) north of Calgary, servicing western destinations such as Vancouver, Kamloops and Saskatoon; and eastern destinations such as Winnipeg, Toronto as well as destinations in Via's eastern corridor via Toronto.

Transport to the city:
A coach service is operated by Via Rail between Calgary and Edmonton four times a day. Edmonton is connected to Calgary via Highway 2.
