Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) provides the national service (tel: (01) 850 36 6222 or 836 6222 for passenger information (Mon-Sat 0830-1800, Sun 0900-1800); website: www.irishrail.ie). Dublin has two main stations: Connolly, on Amiens Street (tel: (01) 703 2359), in the centre, and Heuston, by the Quays (tel: (01) 703 2131). Both have bureaux de change, shops, bar and snack bars.

Rail services: Connolly station serves Belfast, Rosslare and Sligo; Heuston station serves Galway, Westport, Kildare, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny and Limerick.

Transport to the city: Connolly is a five minute walk from the city centre. Heuston is a 25-minute walk to the city centre, but there are regular buses (journey time - 15 minutes).
