Rail East Perth Railway Terminal, Summers Street, East Perth (tel: (08) 93 26 22 22), is the main interstate/intrastate station. Facilities at the station include a café and a newsagent. Local connections are available to the main city station, Perth Railway Station. Rail services: The famous Indian-Pacific, operated by Great Southern Railway (tel: 132 147; web site: www.gsr.com.au ), runs between Sydney and Perth via Adelaide twice a week in each direction; the scenic journey takes 65 hours and terminates at East Perth Railway Terminal. Westrail (tel: (08) 93 26 28 13; web site: www.westrail.wa.gov.au ) is Western Australia's service provider, operating trains to Kalgoorlie and Bunbury from East Perth Terminal. Transport to the city: Local westbound trains leave from East Perth Terminal for Perth Railway Station. The city centre can also be reached by a 20-minute walk. |
