Museum Campus
The Museum Campus is actually the park area south of Grant Park, where two attractions explore the world beyond Chicago. The Field Museum is a study centre investigating and displaying the planet's diverse environments and cultures. It is also home to 'Sue', the nearest to a complete Tyrannosaurus Rex that has ever been discovered. The Dinosaur Hall's display is filled with real and replica skeletons. The 'Africa' exhibit is a walk-through experience taking you from city streets out into the harsh but magnificently beautiful Sahara and into the galley of a slave ship. 'Inside Ancient Egypt' is just that, with 23 real mummies in a recreated burial chamber. As well as permanent exhibits, there are always temporary ones plus films, music, dance, theatre and visiting speakers. Weekends are especially geared towards families and tours.

The Shedd Aquarium houses sea creatures of all kinds, from huge whales to humble penguins, not to mention over 500 types of tropical fish. The 1991 Oceanarium section is a study of the northwest coast of North America's whole ecosystem.
