Israel Railways (tel: (03) 577 4000; web site: www.israil.org.il) is the national rail provider. The company is currently introducing measures to improve the efficiency of their network. Tel Aviv Central (tel: (03) 693 7456) is located to the north of the city centre, at the junction of Haifa Road, Arlosoroff Street and Peta Tikva Road. It is the city's main station serving national destinations as well as suburban routes. Facilities include tourist information, automatic cashier, public telephones, restaurant, cafeteria, shops and secure parking.

Rail services:
Trains run from Tel Aviv to Haifa (1 hour 15 minutes) along the coastal line, with some trains continuing on to Nahariya (2 hours) near the Lebanese border. Trains run every hour between 0600 and 2000. The fare to Haifa is NIS19 and to Nahariya NIS30. Fares can be paid by credit card at the train station upon departure.

Transport to the city:
Buses 61 and 62 can be taken from Tel Aviv Central to Dizengoff Street in the city centre.
