Accommodation Most hotels in Finland cater to the business sector, so hotels offer much lower rates on weekends, usually from Friday through to Sunday. In mid-summer, hotels often have special rates, but when the business season begins in mid-August prices tend to be more expensive and advance bookings are essential. In the winter months, room rates drop drastically and are almost half the original price. For discounted rates, enquire about the Finncheque plan, which allows accommodation in 140 designated luxury hotels at the discounted rate of FIM200 per person in a double room. These are valid from mid-May to late September and may be purchased at a participating hotel or through travel agencies.
