Working with Outlook Express

Previous Topic Next Topic

It is possible to create different "identities" in Outlook Express for each person who uses the program. For example, you and a family member may share Outlook Express. Each of you can view your own mail and your own contacts by creating an identity for yourself. Once your identity is established, you can create subfolders and organize your contacts the way you want them.

Whenever you create a new mail and send it, High Impact eMail uses the default identity to send the mail to the recipient. If you have multiple identities, you can set the default identity as shown in the illustration below:

Here the default identity has been set to "Alternate Identity".

In older versions of Outlook Express you may set the default identity as shown in the illustration below:

Care should be taken to ascertain that each identity has an account attached to it. Without a valid account, High Impact eMail cannot send mail and an error message will be displayed, as shown below.

When you are creating a new mail and Outlook Express has its mail format set to something other than HTML (plain text, rich text format, etc.), then High Impact eMail automatically sets the mail format to HTML. As soon as the mail is created in Outlook Express, the application toggles the mail format back to the original setting.

While using High Impact eMail, it is preferable to preset the Mail Format settings by unchecking the option 'Send pictures from the Internet with messages'. If you do not do this, then while creating a new mail, High Impact eMail automatically unchecks this option. As soon as the mail is created, the application toggles the setting back to the original one.
