Beryl has chosen to work with a minimum of materials for this series. She uses tubes of acrylic paint in eight colours, a one-and-a-half inch brush and a water colour brush. Chunks of ordinary foam rubber sponge are used to dampen the paper and also to paint with and a small plastic palette knife adds effect in a number of ways. Charcoal, pencils and a putty rubber are used for drawings. The paper is Bockingford, quite heavy with a slight texture. All these materials are available from art shops around the region.
