Auto-upgrading Windows Media Player

When you install Windows Media Player, an upgrade feature is also installed. The upgrade feature periodically asks you if you would like to check for upgrades. To minimize the download time, only the pieces of the player that need to be updated are available for upgrade. If you would like to completely reinstall Windows Media Player, you can use the auto-upgrade mechanism.

Auto-upgrade is set by default to check for upgrades once a week. To adjust this time interval, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then use the Advanced tab to change the setting. You can check for an upgrade whenever you like by double-clicking the Windows Media icon in the Windows tray.
